SPENCER WHITE WAS in Romeo Castillo's room. He's walking around, looking at his posters and whatever stuff he had laying around on his desk and his dresser. "What possessed you to come to my house, Spencer?" Romeo now asked the blond boy who was now standing at the dresser, picking up a random plushy that was sitting on the top. A random stuffed animal Stevie bought for him when he was sick for two weeks in Year 8.
"Why do you care?" Spider replied, setting the plushy back down. "Well, it is my house." Romeo merely says, rolling his eyes as the taller boy walked over, now standing in front of him. "What do you think I'm here for? To play video games or to watch a movie?" He asked and Romeo just raised his head to look up at him. He squints his eyes at the boy, "oh, I thought we were gonna train." He merely replies with, sounding a bit sarcastic.
"Yeah. Yeah, totally. Training." Spencer nods, just staring down at him before he kneeled down in front of Romeo who's now looking down at him instead. "You seem stressed about the district tryouts." Spider now says, his hands both on Romeo's knees. "No. Not at all. I'm the best on our team." The Castillo denies, because he can't let him know that, even if he was super stressed out, and the White just smirks up at him. "Sure." He remarked.
His hands slowly move up Romeo's thighs as the curly haired boy just watched him. "Can I kiss you?" He asks quietly and Spider quickly glanced up at him, his gaze now growing cold. "No." He answers and Romeo looks down, a solemn look on his face. Spider moves closer, "I can do whatever else you want." He says and Romeo just glanced up at him.
He softly nods, giving Spider the green light. Afterwards, Spencer stood up and just looked down at him. The curly haired boy had his messy hair splayed out around his head on the bed, his eyes closed as he tried to calm himself down. "Sometimes you don't look that bad, you know." Spider says, almost admiring him as he stared at him intently, and Romeo looks up at him, brows furrowing together. "Is that your stupid attempt at complimenting me?" He asks and Spencer snorts, looking away.
"Maybe..." He says and Romeo sighs, sitting up. "Do you want me to... do anything for you?" He asked, pursing his lips and Spider just continues to stare down at him. "No." He says, raising his hand. His fingers run themselves through Romeo's hair, then stop at the back of his head. "Well... there are many other things I want you to do for me. But not right now. I have to head home." He merely explains to him and Romeo just looks up at him.
"Okay." He says quietly, unsure of what else to say as Spider's hand now moved to the side of his face, gently touching his jawline. "I gotta go." He suddenly pulls his hand away and Romeo just sat there at the end of his bed, realizing his room was now empty. All presence and energy of Spencer White now gone from his bedroom and he just sat there, alone.
Why is he feeling this way for him? Of all people. This thought racks Romeo's mind the next day during the tryouts, "Romeo! Spider!" Their coach called them over and he walks over, Spider trailing not far behind him. "Feeling good, coach." He says, the two of them in front of the man. "Yeah, good to hear. Hey, uh, any sign of Malakai?" He asked.
"No." Romeo answered as Spider also shook his head at the same time. "Oh. Keep going, then." The man now tells them as Romeo just glanced at the boy standing behind him. "Where's your best mate then, Romeo?" Spider now asked and Romeo squints his eyes at him.
"How would I know? We both last saw him yesterday when we trained together." He says, crossing his arms and Spencer just nods. "Hmm, okay, sure," he says and Romeo just glanced away from him. "Come on." He merely says quietly, heading off back onto the court.
He couldn't help himself. He kept watching Spider throughout the rest of the day, he kept looking at him in the locker room after and he had to leave first, grabbing his bag. At home, he tells his mom all about how it went as they sat together on the couch. "That's great, Ro." Selena Castillo tells her son.
Romeo sets his head back, looking the other way as he let out a small sigh. "Are you okay, cariño?" She now asked, reaching out to put her hand on his head as he just hugs his arms around himself. "Yeah. I'm okay." He says quietly and she furrows her eyebrows.
"What's bothering you?" She asked and he just slowly turned his head to look over at her. "I like someone. And it's kind of killing me." He says quietly and she merely frowns. "Love shouldn't be difficult." She now gently pats his head before pulling her hand away.
"It's not love." Romeo denies. It's an obsession. A voice taunts him at the back of his head and he suppresses it as Selena chuckles, picking up her cup of water to take a sip from it. He moves to lay down, putting his head on her lap as she now plays with her son's hair gently, twirling his curls around her index finger.
"I like him. A lot..." He says quietly and she just hums, listening to him. "But he's so... I don't know. He makes me confused." He says quietly and she just nods softly, "why?" She asked, sounding a bit curious, so he sighs. "We do anything but kiss." At this, Selena grimaced, especially in disappointment.
She didn't mind if either of her kids are gay, lesbian, bisexual, whatever it was, she just didn't want them to end up the way she was. Hung up on the same guy for most of her teenage years, have two of his kids just to be left by him so he can go and pursue his dreams.
Empty promises from lovers takes a mental toll on a person's mind, body, heart and soul. She doesn't want that for either Enya or Romeo. Especially Enya. Romeo will be fine, he's strong and he can power through anything, but Enya is her baby girl, her precious baby girl and she doesn't want her hurt like this, ever. It would just break her heart.
"He makes me feel like I'm not enough." Romeo says quietly, sniffling and Selena just rubs her son's shoulder gently. "You're plenty, for anyone, Romeo. Like I said, anyone would be lucky to have you, cariño." She says comfortingly and he just closed his eyes. "I know. I know. I should do better than him, if he's treating me that way. But... he's all I want. It's stupid." He sniffles again and all she can really do is rub his arm as a way to comfort him.
"Why do boys have to be difficult?" He now asks and Selena just shrugs. "I thought the same when I was six months pregnant with you." She says and he just chuckles, so she smiled softly. "I'm sure he'll realize one day that he's really lucky to even be... that intimate with you. That kind of thing is really personal, and should be with someone you love." She emphasized the last part and he just sighs.
"I know, mama. Save sex for marriage, whatever." He whispers and she just rolls her eyes, knowing he doesn't care for that kind of thing. He did a whole speech to her about how virginity was just another "made up thing" for men to have control over women. "I didn't go that far with him just yet." He says, rolling his eyes now and she hums.
"Good." She says and he just snickers, rubbing his eyes. "I don't know why I'm so hung up on him... not like I would want to date him anyway." He says quietly and she furrows her eyebrows together. "Then what is it do you want from him?" She asked and he sat up, thinking for a moment about it. "I don't know... I kind of just wanna kiss him. I hate that he doesn't want to." He says, kind of angrily with a little glare and she just chuckles, looking away.
"I had that rule with your dad. For like the first few days, but that just gave me an actual reason to fall for him, because I didn't make him shut up." She says and he just makes a face, thinking about it. "I'm gonna go nap." He says quietly, getting up from the couch. "Okay, Ro. I'll wake you up for dinner." She says and he nods, now heading up the staircase.
