Chapter Five.

      

    ROMEO COULDN'T STOP thinking about Spider and what he said in those text messages. He can't help but think... that maybe he was right. Whenever he texts Missy or talks to her in person at school, he can't help the little part of him deep down that wishes that she was Spider. He hates his mind for it.

Because he hates Spider. He shouldn't think about him in that way, he shouldn't have in the first place when it all happened. The kiss, the hook up and then the text messages. Why was Spider acting like he and Romeo were together anyway? Like it was all something special between them when he was the one acting like it wasn't special to begin with.

"Hey," he looks up from his desk upon hearing that voice, seeing Missy approach him with a small smile on her face. "Hey." He smiled back and she stood there in front of him. "You going to the boys' gig on Friday?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. "Oh. I--I don't know." He says shyly, knowing Spider was on that band. "Oh, come on, Romeo. They're raising money for the Global Women's Project. Aren't you a feminist?" There's a hint of playful teasing in her voice, asking with a wide grin.

The Castillo just awkwardly chuckles, fidgeting with his hands. "Yeah, sure. I'll see you there." He say, smiling at the girl who then winks. "Can't wait." She says. "Oh, you'll have to buy one of those off of Ant or Spider." She said, taking off the slapband off her wrist before she put it back on. She then grins at him, before walking off to go join Sasha and Harper. He sighs, running a hand through his hair.

Unfortunately for him, the first person he sees is Spider, not Ant. "Hey." He says, crossing his arms as he walked up to the blond who just glanced up. "Hey." He looks away immediately and Romeo pursed his lips. "I need two of those slap bands." He tells the taller who glanced up at him, furrowing his eyebrows.

"And since when did you have interest in our band?" He asked and Romeo just squints his eyes at the boy. "Why do you care?" He snarkily replied back with and the blond boy now laughs. "Let me guess, for Missy?" He asked then smirked. "You're willing to spend twenty bucks for a chick who's definitely leading you on? Missy's a lesbian, mate." He says and Romeo rolls his eyes at the boy.

"If you actually got to know people and didn't just view them as sex objects, you would know Missy is actually bisexual." He says and Spider just makes a sour face. "Spencer, can I just please get those two slap bands? The other one's for Stevie, not Missy, dickhead." Romeo asked now, digging into his pocket for his wallet. "Fine. Jesus." Spider says as he opens up his backpack, looking for the slapbands which he handed over two of.

He takes the cash in the boy's hands, rolling his eyes. "Thank you!" Romeo says, smiling brightly at him before walking away. In SLTs class, Romeo sits next to Stevie in the back, putting the slap band onto her wrist. "Uh, what's this?" She asked, looking up at him. "Ticket for Chronic Fatigue's gig on Friday. It's at Dusty's." He tells her, setting down his bag.

She snorts. "Did Missy invite you--" "no. No, it's not. Just thought it was really cool that they're raising money for the Global Women's Project." He says and she just squints her eyes at him. "Uh-huh." She said as everyone got settled in. "Okay, we're just missing one more. I'll wait." Jojo said as she set up the tv. "Is Enya no longer sick?" Stevie asks in a quiet voice. "Yeah, she's feeling better and back in school." He tells her, just as his sister walks in.

"Oh, Enya. Nice of you to finally join us. Please find a seat." Miss Obah says when the Castillo girl walked in. "Nice work on the map, Enya." Spider says and Romeo looks over, glaring. "Shut up, Spider." He says angrily as the younger girl just walked over to their table. "Is it okay if I sit with you guys?" She asked quietly and Romeo nods right away.

Stevie just glanced down at her notebook as Spider laughs, nudging Ant. "It's just so funny Romeo isn't mad at his best friend for banging his sister." He says, not even trying to be quiet and Ant laughed. "I'm serious, shut the fuck up, Spencer." Romeo says, still sounding angry as Enya just lowered her head.
