FOR THE FIRST week of the holidays, Selena, Vivianne, Romeo and Enya went to go visit the two sisters' parents, for a whole week. It was sort of torture for Romeo, who gets nagged on all the time by his grandma about whether or not he has a girlfriend, then his grandpa would ask if he had a boyfriend.
Both of the questions devastated him, and made him go into full-on moping around mode. Especially since Enya got to brag that she was actually dating Stevie, which caught everyone off guard, except for a widely grinning Vivianne. "So... what's his name, Romeo?" His grandfather now came to sit by him at the couch while his grandmother was cooking supper in the kitchen with the help of all three, her daughters and granddaughter.
"Don't know what you're talking about." Romeo says, hugging the pillow even tighter. "Come on. Sel and I talk everyday. She told me you were having boy troubles. Come on, I'm hip. I'm woke." The way his grandfather says the words makes Romeo grimace. "Yeah, I know. Abuela gave me a whole speech about accepting myself and learning to love myself, always saying that you can't love God and hate love. Whatever." He said and waved his hand.
"Don't whatever me, son." The elderly man says and the teenage boy just sighs. "What does it matter anyway? He hates me. And it's all... one-sided." He shrugs his shoulders, staring down at the floor and his grandpa chuckles. "I used to think it was one-sided with your grandma." He says and Romeo looks up.
"What?" He says and the man nods. "Oh, yeah, she hated my guts. Always got mad at me, yelled at me in that scary, fast Spanish she and Sel do. I used to be scared of her, especially when she would threaten me. And she was smart, smarter than me. And I would doubt her, at times. But... then once we both started falling in love, we couldn't stop. It's like we couldn't get enough of each other--" "gross." Romeo cuts off his grandpa, looking away.
"My point is... if you truly like this guy, listen to your gut and go for it. Maybe... some day down along your path, in your elderly days, you'll be the one encouraging your grandson." The man told him and Romeo just furrows his brows, watching as his grandpa now stood up. "I'm gonna go check on dinner."
"His name is Spencer." He had told his grandpa when it was just the two of them sitting at the table. The elder man just smiled and nodded his head. "Okay. Well, you make sure Spencer treats you right." He had told Romeo who just looked away, knowing that was simply something that would never happen.
After finally going home the second week, Romeo hung out with Malakai and Missy, the girl had invited him over and they were just sitting around, watching a movie when suddenly Malakai told them, about how he was feeling. At first, it was hard for him to put into words, but the two queer teens were understanding, and really patient with him throughout the whole thing.
So as it turns out, Malakai is sexually confused. In the awkward silence moment when both Missy and Romeo didn't know what to say, she offered that the Castillo and Mitchell just experiment with each other, both of the boys immediately shooting down the idea before she bursted out laughing, saying she was only messing with the two, making them shyly smile and glance at one another.
The two hung out pretty often for the rest of the break, especially now that Stevie and Enya were a couple, Romeo always gives them their space and doesn't wanna feel like a third wheel, so instead he hangs out with Missy and Malakai. The three now pulling up to school in her car, the Mitchell in the passenger seat while the Castillo sat in the backseat.
He smirks a bit at the fact that Malakai was looking out the window, at Amerie. The girl parks the car, as the two boys get out the car, Darren waves at Malakai and Romeo, when Amerie grabs them and drags them off. "Brutal." Missy says, coming to stand on the other side of Romeo. "She probably just didn't see me." Malakai tells the two.
