𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐬

Chapter Twelve.

      

     THE NEXT MORNING, Romeo is the first one awake, quite comfortable at first, yawning quietly and enjoying the warmth he was laying on. But then he realized it was in fact someone's chest, noticing the white shirt. Right. Spider. He quietly sighs, closing his eyes before slowly raising his head.

Spider is still sleeping, looking quite uncomfortable with his head against a tree trunk. But Romeo couldn't help himself, staring at the blond boy for a couple of seconds, he looked... cute. Romeo's never seen him look so peaceful. Plus he's quiet, but Romeo has always known he was capable of shutting up. He just stared at the blond boy for a couple of moments, before he slowly begun moving, trying to get up, but Spider's grip tightens.

"Just a couple more minutes." The blond mumbled, bringing him back onto his chest and the brunette feels his face heat up. "Spider, let go of me." Romeo says, trying to break free from his arms and Spider groans, letting him go. "I'll see you back over there." He says quietly, before quickly standing up.

When he returns to the others who were all still thankfully sleeping, he sighed as he sat down onto a random log. He yawns, rubbing his eyes as everyone slowly began waking up. Rowan was now awake, and so was Amerie, bringing the boy over a bottle of water. A couple of others began waking up as Spider walks over now, sending a sly smirk his way and he just smiles faintly, rolling his eyes and looking down. "You guys look fucked up." Darren says, standing with Cash who's embracing them from behind before the couple laugh together.

"Wait, where's Quinni?" They then asked. "I haven't seen her." Ant says, mid-yawn. "Where is Quinni?" Sasha asked, looking around in confusion. Romeo looks all around, then the students all go on a search for the girl, shouting for her name. "Guys! Guys! We found her!" Sasha shouted as her, Missy and Romeo run over to the girl on the ground.

"Oh, my God!" Darren came running over. "Quinni." Romeo says, kneeling down next to her as Sasha is knelt down on the other side. "Oh, my God." Harper says, rushing over. "What's happened?" Romeo asked the redhead worriedly. "I've been bitten by a snake. It's probably an eastern brown. I could have thirty minutes to live." The girl weakly explained to them. "Oh, my God." Missy shouts, everyone shouting over one another.

"Help!" Darren shouted, knelt next to Romeo. "Let her finish! Let her finish!" Amerie shouted at them all. "If you panic, I'm going to panic. Which means the venoms will travel to my lymph nodes faster. You all have to stay calm. You're my only chance of survival. I have to focus on breathing. Very slowly." She whispers as both Quinni and Darren are rubbing her shoulders. "Shit, shit, guys, guys. This is not good. This is not good." Spider panicks.

"Spider, not now." Quinni looked over, "do you still have your blindfold?" Amerie now asked, turning to Harper. "Yes." The girl took it out her pocket. "Okay. Bind her ankle. You too." Amerie says. "Um, Missy, any idea how to get us out of here?" The Wadia girl now asked and the Beckett girl perks up, pointing.

"The creek. It runs downhill to the campsite." She got up. "Okay, great. Everyone, let's get her up." Amerie says loudly so the students all on either sides of her prepare. "Okay. On three." Harper said, "look at me." Darren says quietly, looking down at their best friend. "One, two, three." Amerie said as Ant, Amerie, Harper, Stevie and Rowan lift her up on one side, and the other side, Darren, Romeo, Cash, Malakai and Spider lift her up. "Be gentle."

"Hold her steady."

The teens all began walking together with their arms underneath Quinni, and following Missy who's leading the way. Sasha was at the end, holding up Quinni's head. They work together, heading down hill to the creek where they carry Quinni together, when Jojo came into their sight. "Miss!" Missy shouted, making them all shout for her as Miss Obah now rushed over with the search and rescue team.

After arriving home, Romeo was just laying on the couch with his head on his mom's lap, feeling worried for Quinni and hoping she was doing okay. "That was so dangerous of those teachers to do." Selena says, sounding upset by what had happened at the camp. "It wasn't Miss Obah, it was Mr. Voss." He says, also sounding upset. The doorbell rings then, so he quickly got up, opening the door to Stevie.

The two don't even say anything, just embracing one another in the doorway. He rubs her back, sighing as he closed his eyes. He leans away, hands on her shoulders. "I'm sorry I've been an asshole." He says and she quickly shook her head. "No, I'm sorry. I've pushed you aside since I got with Enya. That's really unfair to you." She says quietly and he sighs before bringing her into another tight hug.

"I think we're just both sorry and should forgive each other." He says quietly and she just chuckles in response. "Do you think Quinni will be okay?" She asks now, pulling back again and he just nods. "Yeah. It's Quinni." He whispers and she just sighed. "I'm worried for her." She says, glancing down before looking up at him, giving him a small smile.

"Are we good?" She asked him now and he nods right away. "Enya is still my vice... I feel like you have a lot going on right now." He says quietly and she just glanced down, nodding. "Yeah, no. Yeah, I do... um, my parents came home and... they're making me see a therapist once a week." She says and he frowns, but nods his head understandingly.

"That's good, Steves..." He says and she just smiles softly. "Do you wanna come with me and watch a movie with Enya and I?" She asks quietly and he chuckles. "Hmm, so you did come over for her." He says and she shrugs. "Yeah, basically but I'm killing two birds with one stone." She grins at him and he rolls his eyes. "I'll go make some popcorn." He says and she excitedly heads up the staircase.

About halfway through the movie, Stevie had fallen asleep at some point, snoring softly as the two siblings finish up the movie. Enya glanced over at Romeo, smiling faintly. "I'm glad you two worked things out." She said quietly and he just smiled back, nodding. "I'm glad too..." He whispers and she smiles more, looking down at Stevie on her stomach.

"I think she's in a really bad place right now... I don't really know how to help her." She whispers and he just reached over, rubbing her shoulder gently. "Being there for her is how you can help her. Trust me." He says and she just nods, still staring down at her girlfriend before looking over at him with a small smile.

"How was school camp?" She asked quietly and he shrugs, pulling his hand back. His mind flashes of Spider, kissing him, falling asleep on him and waking up to him. "Boring. Well, not until all the shrooms and stuff." He grins and then his smile faded away. "It got scary when we found Quinni... just can't stop thinking about how pale she looked." He whispers and she frowned slightly at the older Castillo.

"Is she doing okay?" She asked quietly and he just nods. "Darren texted earlier, saying she's stable now at the hospital and she'll be okay, she'll be on bed rest for a while." He tells her and she nods, smiling faintly. "That's good." She says and he nods in agreement.
