𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐬

Chapter Thirteen.

JUST LIKE THEY had planned, Spider came by after, when Romeo was in bed, he heard a faint knock at the window and quickly let in the blond boy who crawls in through the window. "You okay?" He whispers, shutting the window behind him and Romeo nods. "Yeah..." He lets himself get a little hopeful, because of how concerned Spider had sounded.

"Okay..." Spencer whispers, stepping closer to him and Romeo just stares at him, waiting for what will happen next. "Get on the bed, dummy." The taller whispered, and he hates how fast he listens to his orders, sitting down. It's almost experimental, the way Spider follows him, pushing him down onto the bed, hovering over him. Maybe this is it. He's gonna kiss Romeo, but Spider moves down.

Right. He's only here for one thing.

Afterwards when Romeo is just laying there, he covers his face with a pillow and closes his eyes tightly shut. "Was that okay? How... how was it?" Spider sounds a bit curious and Romeo took a moment, his chest still heaving. "It was okay..." He murmured in response and Spider stared at him, brows furrowing together. "Romeo." He says, reaching over and Romeo sat up, pushing his pillow away. "Are you done? You can go now." He says harshly.

"Uh, okay. Don't have to be a dick about it." He says as Romeo looks the other way so Spencer just stares at him, brows furrowed. "You're seriously gonna make me leave?" He asked and Romeo scoffs. "Well, like... you're done with what you wanted to do." He says, crossing his arms and Spencer just stares at him. "Hmm, I see. You want more." He says and Romeo looks over, kind of expectantly.

"Maybe..." He says quietly and Spider nods, smiling faintly. "There's something I've been wanting to try for a while... are you gonna be good to go again?" He asks and Romeo just softly nods, "yeah. I suppose so." He smiles and Spider just rolls his eyes. "Okay. Then I'll stay for a bit longer." He tells him.

But Spider doesn't kiss him. Again. He only tried something new, which Romeo did not complain about for one bit, but afterwards, he was really tired so he kind of fell asleep as Spider just sat there, staring at him. He had already cleaned up Romeo, pulled up his pants, even pulled a blanket over him. But still, he sat there and watched Romeo sleep.

After a couple minutes of Spider just sitting there, that's when it suddenly kicks in how creepy it seemed and felt, so he left, the same way he had arrived, climbing out the window and quietly shutting it behind him.

The next week on Monday, Stevie and Romeo now walk together down the hall, the girl has sunglasses on and her arms are crossed. "What's up with you today?" The Castillo asked, glancing at her a couple times as he spoke and the Miller girl just sighs. "Just really tired, that's all." She murmured quietly. "Okay." Romeo whispers, glancing away.

In the gymnasium for the assembly, Romeo now sat between Enya and Stevie in the front row, as Woodsy walks up to the podium, "good morning, everybody. So I have an announcement." The woman says into the mic. "It's really very thrilling. Hartley High has been selected to kick off the city off Sydney Interschool Basketball Semifinals." While everyone clapped and cheered, on Romeo's left, Enya softly nudged him so he smiles sheepishly. On the inside, he's nervous.

"Which will garner some much-needed positive attention after the map debacle." Their principal added. "Map Bitch!" Someone shouted, obviously Spencer White. At this, both Stevie and Enya roll their eyes. "Put a sock in it, Spencer. It's actually a very big honor and we would like all of you to do your bit and help us clean up our school."

"Don't actually cleaners do that, miss?"

"Great contribution, Anthony. Anything else?" She asked sassily back and Ant just rolls his eyes, looking away. "As a little incentive, the students who pick up the most bags of rubbish will receive a PlayStation..." All the students gasp in surprise and interest. "Gift voucher. Valued at $50. It's still a lot." Stevie sat up, then turned to the Castillos.

"I want that gift voucher." She said and grabbed tightly onto Romeo's shoulder. "I need to win." She tells the boy who just sighed. "And yes, the cleanup is compulsory. You will be handed out schedules in the first period. Thank you." Their principal dismissed them, so the three teens all got up, picking up their bags.

"So, what's the plan? You want to win that gift voucher, right?" Enya now asked, looking at Stevie who's surprised, kind of looking at her with a dumbfounded expression on her face. "Oh, um, yeah. You want to help out?" She makes a confused face now and Enya nods. "I mean, yeah, duh." She tells her, smiling then looking at Romeo who's staring off in the distance with a frown.

"Just text me the plan... I'll see you two in SLTs." The Castillo girl now says before walking away to head to her first class. "Yeah. I'm still in love with her... I never stopped." Stevie sighed, then looked at Romeo to see he was still zoned out. "Ro?" She grabs his arm and he snaps out of it, finally looking at her.

"Enya's helping us with picking up rubbish." She says and he just quickly nods. "Ye--yeah, I heard." He then glanced away, his mind finding its self back to Spencer White again. That night won't stop replaying in his head, just thinking about how Spider acted when he got there, wanting to know if it was good, asking to try something new, even cleaning him, putting him back into his clothes and a blanket on him? He's just wondering why someone would do all that and then act the way he does.

Spider is so confusing. Just today, he saw him on his way into school, he smiled, but Spider looked away, like he was annoyed. He gets it, Spencer isn't exactly out, but that just can't be the case of why he acts the way he does. It's not the fact he's in the closet, so what was it? Because Romeo is starting to feel like he's being toyed with, and he doesn't like it.

Yet he can't help himself.

He finds his eyes wandering over to the blond boy, stares at him, just watches him, whatever he's doing, no matter who he's with, he never gets scared to be caught doing so. Until on their way to SLTs, Stevie stops him, turning around. "Is there something going on with you and Spider again?" She asked.

"What? No. Why do you say that?" He asked, furrowing his brows together and she just glanced around. "You just... act really weird, and I don't wanna jump to conclusions or anything, but you literally aren't even trying with Missy, so obviously--" "no, no, I just... yeah, after the first time it happened, I've barely gotten into arguments with Spider like I used to, and I can't lie, I can't look at someone the same again after I've been with them sexually. And with Missy... I'm just trying to avoid fucking stuff up with her." He shrugs his shoulders.

She nods, glancing away. "I just don't want you wasting your time with someone like Spider, when you deserve so much better, like someone like Missy." She says quietly, kind of avoiding eye contact with him and he snorts. He reached up, ruffling his best friend's hair, "you care about me so much, it's adorable, Steves," he says to her and she just rolls her eyes, looking up at him. "Of course I do." She said before they head off to their class.

When they get there, the duo took their usual seats, sitting down. And this time, when Spider, Dusty and Ant walks in, Romeo looks away with an annoyed face, because now, he knows that Stevie is watching him, whenever he looks and watches Spider with a dumb look in his eyes, that is probably a big telltale sign.

Stevie Miller knows Romeo Castillo better than anyone else in her life, she has a shitty mom and an equally shitty father, both of who neglected her all of her life, leave her with babysitters in their big house, so Romeo is truly all she has. So, of course she knows him. She knows by that stupid sparkle in his eye whenever the boy looks at Spencer White, that Romeo is lying about having something with that guy. She knows, and honestly, she's not even mad, she's just kind of hurt that Romeo doesn't even want to tell her about it, when she already knows about the first time.
