𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐬

Chapter Eighteen.

     

     LATER AT AMERIE'S place, Stevie and Romeo were doing shots while Enya just sat there, sipping a beer. "Are you sure you don't want any?" Stevie held up another little shot glass and Enya shakes her head. "No, but thanks for offering." She smiles and Stevie just smiled back at her before turning to Romeo who was staring at someone.

Stevie quickly followed his eye gaze to see he was staring at Spider and Ant who were now shotgunning cans of beer together. "Seriously, dude. You need to get over him." Stevie said, grabbing onto the boy's shoulder and Romeo sighs, picking up the bottle of liquor to drink from it. "I gotta go to the bathroom." He got up and walked away from the two. "You know who he should try with again? Missy." Enya says and Stevie looks at her, nodding.

"You're right."

On his way out to the backyard, Romeo spots Harper hitting Spider in the groin with her knee. He laughs quietly, brushing past the two as he takes a swing of his beer. He finds Enya and Stevie outside, talking with Missy and another guy. "Hey guys." He smiles, putting his arms around both of them. "Hey..." Stevie chuckles, then gestured. "Hey, this is Jai, Missy's brother." She said and Romeo stood up straight, nodding. "Nice to meet you. I'm Romeo." He held out his hand and Jai chuckles, shaking his hand.

"He's Romeo?" Jai now asked Missy, shaking the boy's hand and Missy just rolls her eyes, looking at her brother. "Yes." She said quietly and Romeo pulls his hand back. "Aww, so you've talked about me with your family?" He asked Missy who just looks at him. "Shut up." She says, obviously flustered as Stevie chuckles. "I'm gonna go grab another beer. Enya, wanna join me?" She makes a look.

Romeo doesn't catch on as the two girls walk away and Jai looks at Missy. "Gotta go to the bathroom, be right back, sis." He says and she nods, watching her brother walk away as Romeo just smiles at Missy. "Your brother's cool." He pointed and she snorts. "I bet you think he's hot." She says, sounding annoyed.

"Oh, he so is." He nods and then looked at her. "Sorry we haven't talked since... you know, Mardi Gras. Just been... really busy." He says and she nods. "No, it's okay. You don't owe me anything." She says quietly, taking a sip from her beer bottle. "Yeah, well my schedule's been cleared up a lot recently. I dropped basketball." He says and she raised her brows, looking up at him, then behind him.

"Is that Malakai?"

The two now stood with the crowd cheering the boy on who was up on the roof, "get down, Malakai!" She shouted to the boy asking the crowd if he was gonna make it if he jumped. "Oi. Bro, use this." Ant pointed at the trampoline and all of them cheer him on as he, Spider and another boy move the trampoline. "Oi, oi, oi. Make that sound again." A boy shouted so Malakai makes the same noise he did when he was attacked by that police officer, making the whole crowd all laugh.

"What are you doing?" Amerie shouted at the boy up on the roof of her house. "Hey, why did you even invite me, Amerie? You made me bring Twister. You ignored me all night." All the crowd ooh at his words. "Jump! Jump!" The crowd shouted and Romeo looks around. "Don't. Fucking stop!" Amerie shouts at them. "Jai! Jai!" Missy shouted as the crowd continued to shout for the Mitchell boy to jump.

"Malakai! Malakai, please."

Jai runs over, grabbing him. "Oi! What are you doing? Get off of me. Fucking get off me!" He tries to fight Jai off who's pulling him back away from the ledge as the crowd all boo. "They're all so fucked up." Romeo says in disappointment and Missy just sighed, agreeing. When Jai brought Malakai down, Romeo helps him out by putting Malakai's other arm around him as Missy now leads them through the party.

Everyone is just watching in silence. "You're all fucked in the head. Every single one of you." Missy says loudly in disappointment, glancing back at Romeo, Malakai and Jai before looking ahead, glaring at Spider and Ant who they now passed by in the hallway.

Romeo doesn't even need to look at Spider to see he was looking right at him. Missy and Jai sit up front as Romeo is in the back, Malakai resting his head on his shoulder as they drove. Missy glanced back, looking at Malakai with worry then looking at Romeo, smiling softly. At the Beckett house, Missy and Jai put Malakai to bed in the basement on a futon outside of Jai's bedroom before they head upstairs.

"I'm gonna get him some water and set it on the table by the bed. He'll be okay, sis." Jai says, knowing Missy was worried. "Okay... goodnight, Jai." She says, then turned to Romeo. "Come on." She said quietly and he nods, following after the girl. Missy took off her cat ears and began wiping off her face make up as he sat on her bed, looking all around.

"Nice room." He says and she just chuckles. "Thanks..." She said quietly and he pursed his lips. "I--I can actually head home--" "you can stay the night. If you want." She said as she turned around to look at him and he nods. "I just... don't want you to feel uncomfortable." He says and she just smiled.

"I don't. Do you?" She asked and he quickly shook his head, smiling at her. "Besides... just staying the night at a friend's right?" He asked and she just smirks, turning back around. "Yeah. Exactly." She said and continued taking off her face paint. "Also, it's super nerdy of you to dress as a Star Wars character." She says and he just chuckles quietly at that.

Meanwhile back at the Castillo's, Stevie and Enya were kissing in her bed. "Shit, shit," the Miller girl pulls away, just leaning over her. "What? What?" Enya asked worriedly and Stevie just held her hand over Enya's shoulder. "We're friends. We shouldn't ruin that." She says and Enya raised her hand to Stevie's face. "Stevie... I love you." She says and the short haired girl just stared down at her, shocked.

"Really?" She whispers and the long haired girl nods. "I do. I always have." She whispers and Stevie leans down, pressing another kiss to her lips before leaning back. "I love you too." She says and Enya smiles. "Yeah?" She says and Stevie quickly nods. "Yeah, I do." She whispers then she leaned in again.

The next morning, Romeo woke up with his arms wrapped around Missy's waist, the girl's back pressed against him. "Morning," she murmured, scrolling away at her phone. "I should head home." Romeo groans, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "What, no breakfast?" She flips over, laying on her back.

"What's for breakfast?" He looks at her and she just smiles, sitting up and leaning in. She connects their lips for a couple seconds before leaning back, "eggs." She got up and he just watched her head out the room. He stayed for breakfast and then headed out afterwards, saying he'll text Missy later.
