Y/N darted through the labyrinth of halls within the ancestral home, her breath coming in sharp bursts as she moved with calculated precision. She had grown up in these corridors, knew every twist and turn, every nook and cranny, and she was using that knowledge to her full advantage. The thrill of the chase sent a wild, excited energy coursing through her veins. The sound of her footsteps echoed softly off the high ceilings, but she knew how to move just quietly enough, light on her feet like a predator stalking its prey.

Behind her, Shen emerged from the open grand dining hall doors, his movements eerily silent for someone with such an imposing presence. His sharp eyes scanned the shadowy corridors ahead, searching for any sign of her. He allowed himself a small smirk, knowing that Y/N wouldn't make this easy for him—but neither would he.

"You won't be able to hide from me, Y/N!" Shen's voice rang out, smooth and confident, cutting through the silence like a blade. His words echoed off the ancient stone walls. "I'll find you easily! Remember whom you're up against!"

Y/N stifled a laugh, her hand coming up to cover her mouth as she crouched just above him. She was perched on the bannister of the second-floor balcony, hidden in the shadows, watching as Shen called out to her from below. The very spot where she had taken position earlier had turned into her advantage once again.

She couldn't resist a sassy retort. "You're gonna lose, pigeon!" she called out, her voice filled with laughter that spilled out uncontrollably. "You might be fast, but I'm faster!" Her voice echoed down to him, teasing and playful, a challenge wrapped in every word.

Shen's head snapped upward at the sound of her voice, but before he could spot her, Y/N had already leapt from the bannister. She landed with catlike grace, barely making a sound, and took off toward the rooftop, giggling like a child caught in mischief.

The sound of her laughter only spurred Shen on. With a sharp flick of his feathers, his metal claws clicked to life, gleaming in the faint light as he turned his head toward the direction of her fleeing footsteps. "We'll see about that!" he called back, eager to give chase. His stride lengthened, and he moved with purpose, his metal talons clicking rhythmically upon the stone floor as he ascended the stairs, hot on her trail.

Y/N reached the rooftop door and, thinking fast, grabbed the broomstick she had left there last time she'd cleaned up. She wedged it tightly across the door handles, creating a makeshift barricade. A small, triumphant grin tugged at the corners of her mouth. She could already hear Shen pounding on the door.

"Y/N!" His voice was both stern and playful, and the sound of him ramming into the door echoed through the narrow stairwell. "You're just delaying the inevitable!"

Her heart raced as she pressed her back against the rooftop's edge, trying to think quickly. The pounding grew louder, more insistent. She glanced over the edge of the rooftop, and before Shen could break through the door, she took a deep breath and leapt gracefully off the rooftop's edge, her body twisting in the air with the fluidity of a wildcat. Her claws found purchase on a narrow ledge below, her muscles tensing as she hoisted herself onto the smaller balcony just one floor down.
