The sound of overlapping chatter and dish clatter filled the restaurant. Sasha and I were out for brunch, "Mm mm mm." She closed her eyes savoring the taste of the fluffy pancake. I smiled, shaking my head at the dramaticness.

"Why do you act the way you do?" I asked taking a bite of my bacon. "Girl I swear I'm not being dramatic, this is so good! How are we just now finding out about this?" She asked like she wasn't the one who found it via Google.

"Everything good over here." The waitress walked up, we gave a nod of approval. She walked away.

"Okay, what do you think their story is?" She looked at a couple across the way. See we did this only when out to eat because what more can two people who always talk, talk about during brunch?

I looked over, "This obviously isn't their first date, they're comfortable— they're wearing sweats and t-shirts. Probably been together three years plus?" I guessed.

"I think they're young parents, getting a few hours of alone time while their parents watch the kids. She keeps turning the phone around showing pics of a baby, which I assume is theirs." She said.

"Both could be true," I said. "Mm, how about them?" I pointed at a friend group of three girls.

"Oh this is easy, the girl on the outside right there, she's the outsider friend— the other two are closer and probably hang out without her." She said.

"Ion knows, the way she's texting on her phone and the other girl keeps looking down at her phone makes me think they're talking about the one in the middle," I said.

She nodded, "Both could be true." We said in unison, sharing a laugh.

She looked around trying to find who we would figure out next, "Them, the couple walking in." She said.

My heart sank at the sight of Amir walking in with another woman, and she was beyond beautiful. A lump formed in my throat but I wouldn't cry, I couldn't. My hurt was soon replaced by anger.

"What's wrong, you know them or something?" Sasha asked.

"That's him, Amir," I said trying to play it cool. She frowned, "What the fuck! Want me to go beat that bitch up?" She asked.

"No, I asked God for a sign and he gave it to me." I shrugged as I watched the host seat them in the middle of the room.

"I'll be back though, I have to use the bathroom," I said. "Want me to go with you?" She asked. I shook my head no.

I got up from my seat and made my way to the bathroom. Though I could have gone the other way I chose to walk passed his table so he would know I saw him. It's like everything started to move in slow motion when we locked eyes.

I broke eye contact and everything went back to normal speed. I hurried to the bathroom as tears started to fill my eyes. I grabbed a paper towel and patted my face dry.

What was I doing acting like this over a man I just started talking to a little over a month ago? I looked pathetic and felt it too.

We weren't exclusive, so I really didn't have the right to be feeling like this, but I did! My feelings were hurt because he always made me feel like I was the most beautiful girl in the world and like I was the only girl he had eyes for. I honestly was shattered.

When I returned from the restroom, Sasha and I continued our game. But every time I scanned the room to pick someone's story to guess, my eyes kept meeting his. I was just glad when it was over.

The waitress brought the receipt back, "Did you ladies enjoy your meal?" She asked. We nodded, "Absolutely, I'll definitely be back." Sasha smiled handing the lady a ten-dollar bill and I did the same.
