I was home alone listening to my gospel playlist when a knock on the door caught my attention. I walked over to the door, "Who is it?" I asked.

"Delivery." They said from the other side of the door.

Opening the door I was faced with a bouquet. The man handed them to me and I shut the door with my foot. I assumed they were for me considering my father never did anything this romantic for my mother.

I set the flowers on the kitchen counter and opened the envelope that stuck out from the top. A few $100 bills fell out. I chuckled, what is going on? I thought before I started to read the letter...

Hello, my love, I have to fly out of town for the day due to an emergency meeting. I should be back by tonight, if not, early morning. I can't wait to get back to you, but since I won't be around to accompany you when you eat and shop today, here's some money. Have a great time.

After reading the card I counted seven hundred dollar bills. What was I about to spend $700 on? Probably nothing important but it was about to get spent.

2 Months later...

The weather was cooling down not a lot but enough, Autumn was just around the corner and that meant we were getting closer to my favorite time of the year—WINTER.

I sat at my computer typing the finishing product of my first project as the effects of the pills started to wear off. These days I had to take more than one to get top-tier results. So it seemed like I went through them pretty fast.

I had just taken my last Adderall and I had two more assignments left. Which meant needed more pills. This was supposed to be a one-time thing but it seemed like every time I looked up, there was more work.

I let out a sigh of relief as I ended the last sentence of the paper.

"You finished?" Chase woke up from one of his many power naps. He was lying in my bed, "Yes, but I have more assignments. I guess they can wait though." I saved the assignment and emailed it to my teacher.

My parents were out of town, so I took advantage of that. No, I didn't let Chase spend the night but he came into my room. It wasn't much but it wasn't something that would happen while my parents were here, not because he couldn't but because they hadn't even met him yet.

He stretched, "I'll be back." He got up and made his way into the en-suite bathroom. I stood up and went to lie in his spot, I felt a light vibration. I reached under the pillow and grabbed his phone.

Priscilla ❤️...I frowned reading the name on the phone. I contemplated on answering or trusting him, but there was this weird feeling in my gut that said answer it. So I did.

I answered and stayed quiet hoping this girl was his mom or sister, since their name had a heart next to it.

"Baby?...Baby?" She called out.

The bathroom door opened making me look up. Chase's smile dropped when he realized I had his phone, "What are you doing?" He walked over and grabbed his phone.

"Who's Priscilla?" I sat up. "Why are you answering my phone?" He squinted in annoyance. "No answer me first!" I raised my voice.

"Priscilla is a co-worker." He looked me dead in the eye and lied. I scoffed,  "So your co-workers call you baby?" I asked.

"You know what, if you don't trust me this isn't gonna work." He tried to manipulate me. I stood up, "No it's not going to work because you got caught, but you rather flip it on me."  I watched him gather his things.

"I'm not arguing with you about something I didn't do, contact me when you trust me." He said before walking out.

I was hurt.
