I wiped down the tables and swept the floors as we prepared for closing. "Any plans for the weekend." My co-worker asked. "Surprisingly, yes. A friend is taking me out." I said. "Mhm, a friend?" She bounced her eyebrows up and down.

I laughed, "This guy I met last week." I corrected. "Mmm, so you finally getting out there after all this time?" She asked.

"Actually you've missed a few chapters, I have been out there for a little while now," I admitted.

"You're so private." She rolled her eyes. "I tell you everything." She said.

Ana is cool, although sometime she overshares. Out of all the people who work here, she's the only one I talk to. We didn't hang outside of work but that was my girl. She wasn't stuck up like the rest of the girls on the shift.

"I don't be thinking it's really nothing to tell," I stated honestly. "Yeah, whatever." She waved me off.

"You doing anything?" I asked. "I shouldn't be saying this cause I might jinx it but I think my boyfriend is going to propose. He's been secretive lately." She said.

"You deserve it. Y'all have been together forever." I said.

"Four years and counting." She smiled.

After we finally finished up we hurried out, "Have fun on that date." She said as we split ways. "And my fingers are crossed for the proposal." I pulled the car door open and got in.

"Honey I'm home." I playfully announced my arrival when I walked inside the house. The house smelled of a good home-cooked meal, "It smells good in here." The smell pulled me to the kitchen.

Coming around the corner I laid eyes on my mother, she was in her little world. Headphones were on and danced to whatever was playing in her ears. I came up behind her incidentally startling her, she pulled her earphones back. "Why? Just why?" She asked making me laugh.

"I didn't try too, I was just trying to see what you're cooking. You got it smelling good in here." I said.

"Yeah, I was in a good mood and decided to whip up your dad's favorite meal." She said.

My dad loved chicken fried chicken on top of potatoes, with a side of broccoli and cornbread. Which worked in our favor because we loved it too.

"Well call me when it's done, I'm about to shower," I said. "Um since you're done here how about you set the table first, thanks in advance." Which meant she was telling and not asking.

I didn't put up a fight I just did as I was told.

Bing!

I looked down at my phone and saw a message from Chase that read Can't stop thinking about you, can't wait for our date tomorrow?

I texted back, trying to butter me up before then.

I finished the last touches of the table and went up to the bathroom. I turned on the shower and then gathered my clothes.

I showered for about fifteen minutes, washing all of today's germs off and stress off of me.

Then I hopped out and put on a pair of gray sweats and an oversized graphic tee. As if on cue my mom called out, "The food is ready."

Bing!

It was Chase, I wish I could see you tonight.

I actually wasn't opposed to the idea but I had a lot of work to get done. At the time applying for summer classes seemed ideal, because I didn't have a life. But these days I'm busy and I can barely concentrate on my work.
