What the heck was Amir doing here? How was this even possible considering I had his number blocked and I had been to his apartment before? Did he have another phone? Did he move from his previous place?

He chuckled, "You look like you seen a ghost, you good?" He asked standing there without a shirt. I would be lying if I said he didn't look good.

I cleared my throat, "I'm picking up Adderall, how much do I owe you?" I asked. He licked his lips and gave me a quick up-down. "It's free for you, step in while I go grab it." He said.

"I'll just wait out here."

"Igh." He closed the door.

Why would he try to invite me in while he had company? He's so trash!

A few moments later he came back with a small plastic bag of orange pills, "Here." He handed the bag to me. "Thanks." I walked away.

I heard the door shut, thinking he had gone back inside. "Hold on, can we talk?" He walked after me. "About what?" I kept walking. "Us." He said.

"Don't you have company? Plus there's nothing to talk about." I continued walking.

"Aye." He grabbed my arm, "Slow down."

I turned around, "One. There's nothing to talk about. Two. I'm talking to someone else. Three. No I don't miss you. Did I miss anything?" I asked.

"Did you get the flowers and gifts I sent you?" He asked.

"Yes. I threw the flowers out and kept the gifts." I admitted.

He stepped closer, now towering over me. "I miss you, Naomi. I haven't stopped thinking about you since the last time I saw you. I figured if I gave you some space you'd come back, now here you are." He said.

I shook my head, "I literally just came to pick up something, had I known it would be you who answered the door I would've never come. I've moved on." I said.

"If you were as done as you claimed to be you wouldn't be still standing here talking to me." He smirked. I squinted, "I don't know what I saw in you, I'm so glad it didn't work out." I walked away. "You don't mean that." He grabbed my arm again making me snatch away, "Stop! We're over. Get that through your head." I walked away for real this time.

The truth was I really didn't mean it. I liked him, I really did. I wanted us to work so bad, despite all the signs, and warnings from everyone around me. He was fine, sexy actually but other than that he was a great person, but I couldn't be with a drug dealer.

I wouldn't feel comfortable introducing him to anyone and not being able to tell them what he did for a living. It would feel like I was lying and living some sort of double life— it just honestly seemed like a lot to take on. He just wasn't for me, and I was more than okay with that. It was fun for the moment, but life went on.

I was home finally, "Dinner's almost ready, can you help me set the table?" My mother asked while she was already in the process of doing it. "I have a really important assignment to finish by the morning, sorry." I kept walking.

Finally making it up to my room I sat in my desk chair and pulled out my phone. I didn't know anything about Adderall so I went to Google to find out how long it would take to kick in. I'd taken it about fifteen minutes ago, but I didn't feel any different.

When I looked it up, the results said it took 30 minutes to work, but an hour to two hours to reach its peak effectiveness.

I exited the web and started to set up for my studies. I took my laptop, journals and textbooks from my everyday bag, and sat it on the desk. I fixed everything up neatly and opened the laptop.

"Alright, in about fifteen more minutes it should've kicked in," I said to myself as I waited patiently for the results to hit me. I was a bit nervous that it wouldn't work.

I sat there locked in on the computer screen as I typed away, occasionally looking between my notes and textbook information. I had only one more page to go.

Suddenly my room door crept open, I didn't look up to see who it was. "Hey sweetie, you not gonna eat tonight?" My dad peeked his head in.

"I am, just as soon as I finish this paper and go over it," I said.

"Alright, I love you. Goodnight."

"I love you more, sleep tight," I said back.

I was on a roll, I wasn't stumbling due to distraction, or losing my spot while gathering info. On a normal day, I would've stopped about five times to get a snack and probably to scroll on my socials. But not right now...

The sun peeked through the crack of my curtains waking me before my alarm could.

Usually, I would sleep through something like that due to being so tired, but I went to sleep at a decent time. I turned the paper in and now I was just waiting to see what my professor had to say about my new and improved paper.

Since I didn't have anything to do I decided to go see Sasha, she hadn't really been communicating with me. Obviously, it was because of her current situation.

I got up, went to the bathroom and freshened up before getting dressed.

I dressed in a long fitted floral dress with a simple sandal. I was a little skeptical about it because it fit a little tight but I didn't feel like changing so I kept it on.

I knocked on Sasha's door. "Who is it!?" She shouted from the other side of the door. "It's me, Nay."

The door swung open, "Hey." She sounded uninterested as she walked away. "No ma'am, that's rude." I shut the door behind me, following her to the living room.

"I'm not in the mood Naomi, I don't want to be touched and I don't really want company." She sat on the couch.

She had on a pink silk robe, her hair was all over her head and she looked like she hadn't slept in days. She didn't look like herself. "You look a mess." I said. She shrugs, "I don't give a damn." She mugged me.

"You should, you have dark circles around your eyes and your hair looks like a bird nest. Go do something with yourself." I said. "Naomi. Please. Shut. Up. " She closed her eyes and flagged me off.

I walked over to her and grabbed her hand, "Get. Up!" I pulled her. She resisted pulling back, "Let me go!" She tried to snatch her hand back.

"No get up, you stank and look stank." I pulled harder. "Bitch I'm finna put you out, let me the fuck go." She threatened. I challenged her still holding her hand, "Do it." I said.

She stood up quickly and started to push me, thinking she was doing something. I waited until we got close to her room door and turned around to grab her. "Go get in the shower," I said through my teeth, using all my strength to get her in there.

She held on to the side of the doorway but I didn't give up.

Finally, she was in there. I slammed the door and held the knob, "Now get in the shower and act like somebody loves you." I said breathlessly as she banged on the door.

"While you're in the shower I'll cook and then I'll leave you alone if that's how you still feeling," I said. She stopped banging on the door and I heard the water come on.

I was relieved.

We sat on the couch watching some survival show, "Thank you." She said still looking at the TV. "Mhm, you're welcome," I smirked.

She'd finally combed her head and put on some clean clothes. "I told Vince." She put her empty plate down. "What he say?" I was intrigued. "I should get an abortion."

I covered my mouth in shock, "No- no you shouldn't." I said. "I know but I don't want to raise a baby alone, if he says he doesn't wanna be a father I'm not going to force him." She said.

"So what you going to do?"

"I don't know. I don't wanna raise my baby in a broken home, I wanna be better than that." She looked down.

"Whatever you choose to do I'm with you," I said.
