I'd moved out of Nate's and was finally at my place. It took me a few months to get everything furnished and decorated but I was finally done.I sat on my couch feeling accomplished as I looked around at my new home.
My life was starting to make sense again. I started going to drug classes two times a week, at the end of this week it would make four months clean.
Now I won't lie and say I don't have urges because I do, more than I would like to admit. But I'm taking it one day at a time.
Then there's therapy, I go once every two weeks. She knows everything there is to know about me.
Now some things are still not where I would like them to be, but I'm not expecting a miracle. My dad and I were still not talking, every time I tried it seemed one-sided. I wasn't going to keep extending my hand just for him to slap it away.
My mama on the other hand was coming around, just last week we went out to eat and had a great conversation.
I didn't let her in on what my life was like after they kicked me out but we talked and it was cool.
My brother had spent the night here so many times since I moved in, I didn't care though, I missed him.
Apparently he and his virgin girlfriend whom he swore he wouldn't take serious— were serious. He had his head up her ass, he couldn't see any girl but her.
Oh and that's another thing, I'm still working on, cursing. I still curse sometimes but like I said, I'm a work in progress. Everything wasn't going to happen overnight.
I was still friends with Kitty but me and Sinner fell off. She wasn't a fan of my new lifestyle, and I respect it.
Kitty on the other hand was positive about my sudden change and even said she was interested in coming to church one day.
I no longer went to my childhood church, I'd found one closer to my place. And it was better.
I didn't have to worry about anyone whispering when they saw me or giving me weird looks.
Of course, word got around about me stripping so I avoided that whole situation all together.
My stomach growled pulling me out of my thoughts. "Igh relax nah." I stood from the couch.
It was quite dark outside yet— in between sunset and nighttime.
I slid my feet into my fur slides and grabbed my purse from the counter.
It wasn't often that I cooked even though I was good at it. I enjoyed getting out of the house and getting fast food.
It was something about getting in the car and listening to music as I went to get food.
I pulled into a parking spot at my favorite Mexican restaurant.
The bell rang as I walked in. I made a beeline for the register, "Hi. How can I help you?" The cashier asked.
"I want the bean and beef nachos with rice on the side." I already knew what I wanted.
"And for your drink?" He asked. "Pink lemonade," I answered.
"Will that be all mama?"
"Yes."
He then gave me the total and told me my wait time as I paid.
I sat at the nearest table waiting for my name to be called.
The bell rang indicating someone had walked in. Instinctively I looked up and was caught by surprise when I saw Amir.
Part of me wanted to keep my head down and avoid all contact but that was childish so spoke.
"Hey, Amir." He looked over just as surprised. "What's up?" He came over to the table.
I stood, "Nothing much, hungry as shit." I gave him a side hug.
"We on the same typa time." He said.
"How have you been?" I asked. "I'm cool, I been chillin'—" He looked me up and down. "You look good." He complimented.
"You think so?" I have a little spin causing him to chuckle. "Hell yeah, you did get a little thick." He said.
"Yep, I'm about four months clean," I said.
"That's good." He nodded. "I'm happy for you." He added.
"Shoot, I'm happy for me." I smiled.
He chuckled.
"Order for Naomi." The cashier called out.
"You got the same number?" He asked.
"Yeah," I answered.
"Igh, I'll see you around." He said.
I nodded and grabbed my food.
It wasn't likely that I would talk to him on that level again, but who knew? Life was so unpredictable.
I went home and enjoyed my food, then went right to sleep.
The next morning...
I was dressed and ready for church. Today was really special, I was getting baptized again.
It was only right, I wanted everything washed off and left behind me.
A knock on my door made me start grabbing my purse and belongings before opening the door, "You ready?" Nate raised a brow.
"Yes."
"Let's go." He smiled.
What y'all think of the ending? I really didn't know how to end it because I didn't wanna just put her with somebody.
Who y'all think she would've ended up with? Amir or Nate?
Book 2? Or let it be?
