On January 28,2008, Colgate sophomore forward Ethan Cox was named a finalist for the 2008 Hockey Humanitarian Award as announced by a hockey related foundation. Ethan is one of eight finalists for the award and is the only man in the final eight and is the first Raider to ever be nominated. Cox commented on the finalist nomination and said "It's an honor to be recognized for the work our team has done in our community..." the Donald F. Vaughan Men's hockey coach at Colgate, Don Vaughan had this to say about Cox's recognition. "It's great to see Ethan get this kind of recognition for the great work he's done of the past year and a half..." Ethan and the Raiders will play an annual home and home weekend series against their CNY foe, the Cornell Big Red starting on Friday night from Ithaca.
Ethan Cox has been dominant in terms of charitable work for his entire Colgate career and it's inspiring to look back on and see such a class act on and off the ice. Ethan Cox is one of my favorite players in our program's history and this article on Colgateathletics.com is a must read in my mind because it shows the human side of the game of college hockey. Ethan, if you're somehow reading this, thank you for everything you did for Central New York and the United States as you made a difference on and off the ice!!
I hope you've been enjoying this story and I hope you're ready for the best rivalry in college hockey in the form of the Route 13 Rivalry which is the entirety of the second half of this quadruple header weekend in Colgate Raiders: The Season (2007-08)! Those two games will be tomorrow at 4 and 7 pm eastern as I'm writing this and as always, go Raiders!!!
