You're in deep shit.
"This has never happened before! Not in all my years of working as an educator!"
Presently, you're inside the principal's office. He's a middle-aged man, a touch on the older side, with a receding hairline and a voice that gets awfully squeaky when he yells. And unfortunately for you, he's doing plenty of yelling right now.
Although, given what happened, you suppose you can't blame him.
"The entire gate needs to be replaced now," the principal splutters in disbelief. "That gate has been in place since the school was first founded! It had sentimental value, you know!"
You'd like to point out that he's getting awfully worked up over something as insignificant as a gate, but you know that the second you open your big mouth, you'll just get in even more trouble.
Aizawa shoots you a glare out of the corner of his eye, then turns back towards the principal and nods solemnly. "I understand, sir. Once again, allow me to apologize for all the trouble [Name] has caused. I'm not sure what came over her. She's normally such a good kid."
His words make you feel incredibly guilty. The last thing you ever want is to disappoint Aizawa or Present Mic. It's not like you meant for it to turn out this way, but Katsuki kept piling on and saying all those cruel things to Izuku. Even once you felt that familiar rush of power, you still didn't stop yourself. You should have stopped yourself, but you couldn't.
Does that... make you a bad person?
"I don't understand it either," the principal sighs. He furrows his brows as he looks over at you. "[Name]'s teachers have always said she's remarkably well-behaved, not to mention how well she does in classes. She's the last person I'd suspect of damaging school property. I just don't get what happened for her to do such a thing."
"It was an accident," you mumble shamefully. It's a lie, of course. You knew what would happen once you used your powers. You weren't trying to destroy the gate, but you fully intended to scare Katsuki into submission and make him regret bullying Izuku.
Still, you can't admit that Katsuki was involved, because that would make you look even worse. They'll think you were trying to hurt someone, even though you intentionally missed your punch to ensure he wouldn't get hit.
"What kind of accident?" the principal asks, narrowing his eyes in scrutiny. "Come on. You can talk to us. This isn't a minor incident, young lady. We take these kinds of things very seriously, so it would really help us to understand what caused this."
Keeping Katsuki's name out of your mouth is an absolute necessity. You don't want to be labeled as some hardcore delinquent who goes around trying to beat the crap out of people if they happen to get on your nerves.
For the time being, the most you can do is play dumb.
"I don't really get what it was," you say, making sure to fidget and look troubled. "I felt... a weird power. It was like some kind of energy was moving through my body. Before I knew it, I'd accidentally broken the gate. It's the same thing that happened years ago, when that villain attacked my class at the museum. I don't know how to explain it, but it took me completely by surprise."
The principal's eyes widen slightly. "The... museum? Ah, right. If I recall correctly, you were involved in that hostage situation a while back. I heard some of the kids talking about how you saved them from the villain. But I'm confused, because I thought your Quirk was registered as self-regeneration."
"It's the first time it's happened in years," you insist. "I don't know what the trigger is. I'm really, really sorry about breaking the gate... but this is super confusing, and I just don't understand why it even happened. I promise I wasn't trying to do a bad thing..."
