Shigaraki has finally met someone he can't kill.
He doesn't know how to react. At first, he's convinced he must be dreaming. Every single person he's used his Quirk on has died, without exception. The essence of his Quirk is death itself. It's the very reason he turned out the way that he did. Because society rejected him. The world rejected him. And so, naturally, he resolved to destroy everything that stood in his way. It was the only path left. It was the only option that made sense.
But he failed to destroy you. And ironically enough, the two of you are far more alike than he realizes.
The only difference is that you choose to reject your destiny, whereas he embraces it.
Even though Shigaraki is highly intelligent, his brain can hardly keep up with what's happening. He's rooted in place, too stunned to speak. He watches as you pull your arm back, gritting your teeth in a fit of rage, and logically, he knows he should move out of the way. But he can't. He just can't.
Your existence is almost too mesmerizing to put in words.
"Die, you piece of shit!"
Shigaraki just barely reacts in time, and it's a good thing he did, because your fist collides with the ground as he jumps out of the way, and it splits from the impact, releasing a forceful blast-an immense amount of pressure that nearly knocks him off his feet. If that attack had hit him, he fears to imagine what would have happened.
Incredible regenerative abilities, coupled with superhuman strength.
Just what in the world are you?
Shigaraki finally snaps out of his trance. He knows he needs to act, and quickly. You're far more dangerous than he would have ever thought. He needs to handle you himself and make sure that you're dead by the time All Might shows up. The Nomu was specifically engineered to fight the Symbol of Peace, but having to take you on at the same time as All Might could prove to be too difficult for it. You're an unnecessary distraction. No, not just that, but the very act of leaving you alive is risky. His decay Quirk has never failed to kill. What happened earlier must have been a fluke. There has to be a limit to the amount of damage your body can take.
Which means the answer is simple.
He just needs to keep breaking you. Over and over again.
"Nomu," Shigaraki commands, eyes narrowing into slits. "Keep holding Eraserhead down. Make sure he can't get back up to cancel my Quirk. Just stay there and don't get in the middle of this. I'm going to kill her myself."
Aizawa is already unconscious, having been pushed over the edge by the sight of his daughter's suffering. As far as he knows, you're already dead. He believes you succumbed to the destructive nature of Shigaraki's Quirk. His heart was filled with nothing but pain and grief in his last lucid moments. It's a miracle he didn't die from shock alone.
But he's still alive. You instinctively know this to be true. And right now, that's all that matters. It doesn't matter how much pain you have to endure. It doesn't matter how scared you are, or how powerful the opponent standing in front of you is.
Heroes fight to save others.
And that's exactly what you're going to do.
Shigaraki charges at you, and you manage to flip backwards in time and land on your feet, narrowly avoiding his attack. Your hand-to-hand combat training with Aizawa wasn't for nothing. You're agile, and naturally stronger than the average person. You aren't weak. And you're sure as hell not going to die here.
I already used two charges of my super-powered attacks. There was all that build up of emotion, but I can't feel it anymore. I still can't channel it consciously. Even in a time like this...
