It takes a while for Izuku's sobs to desist, and the only reason he actually stops is because of what All Might says.
"I came here not only to apologize, but also to tell you that you are fit to become my successor."
Successor?
Izuku finally lifts his head. He blinks in confusion, and a few stray tears slip down his cheeks. "I... sorry, what?"
You can't blame him for not understanding, because you don't really understand either.
All Might lets out a bellowing laugh. "Haha! Both of your expressions are a riot. Well, I'm sure it must be a bit surprising, but this is what I meant earlier, after hearing that young lady has two Quirks of her own. Kid, when I say I want you to become my successor, I mean that I intend to pass my Quirk onto you."
"Pass it onto me...?" Izuku seems to be getting more puzzled by the second. "But that's-"
"I know how it sounds, but it's the truth." All Might looks around, most likely to ensure nobody else is passing by. "As far as news and the media goes, my Quirk has always been described as some kind of generic super strength. I never bothered to correct any assumptions people made, and that was intentional, because it simply wouldn't do if the Symbol of Peace was in fact not a natural-born hero. But in reality... my Quirk is a power that can be passed on from one user to the next."
Now it's your turn to be flabbergasted. Not because you can't buy into All Might's story, but because his words evoke past experiences.
Experiences that you'd rather not remember.
It's like the bad man. He implanted me with a Quirk, so... it must be possible for people to pass Quirks around somehow.
There's no reason for All Might to lie, and since you're living proof that a person can be granted a Quirk, you don't question it.
It does, however, give you pause.
Because you get the sense that All Might obtained his power in a much different way than you did.
Still, you don't voice your thoughts. All these years, you've deliberately kept the details of your past hidden. Aizawa and Present Mic went to great lengths to ensure that you would be treated normally by your peers, and deep down, you secretly feel ashamed of what you went through.
All Might may not have the answers for you, but one day, you hope that Dr. Garaki will be found and brought to justice.
"H-How is something like that even possible?" Izuku gapes. "It's a Quirk... that you can inherit? That sounds unreal! I-I mean, it is true that the nature of your Quirk has been long disputed as one of the mysteries of the world, but I just can't wrap my head around-"
"It's possible," you say, and you smile gently, snapping Izuku out of his rant. "If there are people like me who have multiple Quirks, I don't see why it's not possible for certain Quirks to be passed around. There's probably a lot of things out there that we just can't fully make sense of."
All Might nods. "Yes. I figured Young [Name] would be proof of what I'm saying. Although I can't surmise exactly how she has multiple Quirks, my Quirk-One for All-is the power to transfer strength. One user cultivates the power, then grants it to another, and the cycle continues to repeat itself, over and over again. Just as my mentor entrusted me with this great responsibility, I plan to do the same with you."
"But... if that's really the case, why would you give someone like me such an amazing power?" Izuku frowns. He glances over to you. "Wouldn't [Name] be way better suited to become your successor? She's already so strong, not to mention brave."
