Roughly a year ago, Aizawa and Present Mic got a big promotion. Well, in your eyes, at least.
"You're both going to be teachers at U.A?!"
The declaration came as a massive shock, and you can still remember the way your jaw dropped open. To think that the two most important people in your life would end up teaching at the school you've been dreaming of getting into. Talk about a lucky break!
At the time, you eagerly clenched your fists and grinned. "So, this means that-"
"I know what you're thinking, but you can forget about it," Aizawa frowned. "Just because we'll be teaching at U.A doesn't mean you get special treatment. You're not guaranteed admittance or anything. In fact, since we'll be teaching at the school, we're not even allowed to refer you for the special recommendation exam that takes place earlier than the regular one. Staff like us aren't allowed to show any sort of bias. You would have been better off if we weren't teaching there."
He promptly crushed your dreams, and you could only whine in defeat. Victory seemed right within reach, but you should have expected that it wouldn't be that easy.
If you want to make your dreams come true, you can't count on having any shortcuts.
Anyways, back to the present-
"Since all of you are third-years now, it's about time to start thinking about your futures, so I was going to distribute these career printouts, but... pretty much all of you are aiming to become heroes, right?"
The class erupts into cheers, and countless students proudly show off their Quirks, even though it's technically against the rules to use them so carelessly.
You rest your chin on your hand and let out a sigh. Sure enough, you're close to graduating from middle school, which means the U.A entrance exam is steadily approaching. Since Aizawa and Present Mic aren't allowed to vouch for you, you'll have no choice but to get in through your own means. Of course, that was always the plan, but still... now that the fateful day is getting closer and closer, you're starting to feel a bit nervous.
I can only hope my training is enough. Dad's helped me get stronger all this time. I really don't want to let him down.
"Sensei! I'd rather you didn't lump me in with the rest of these shitty extras! Their weak-ass Quirks can't even compare to mine."
While you're mid-thought, an asshole you're all too familiar with takes the opportunity to spring up and jump right onto his desk.
That asshole, of course, is none other than Katsuki.
"Ah, yes, Bakugou," the teacher hums. "If I recall, you're aiming for U.A, aren't you?"
"U.A?!"
"That super prestigious school that has an abysmally low acceptance rate?!"
"Man, seriously? Bakugou is something else..."
Everyone is in awe, and by the looks of things, they could never even dream of entertaining such a lofty goal.
"Ha! This is why all of you are nothing but extras," Katsuki chuckles obnoxiously. "I already aced the mock exam! In fact, I'm the only one here who's even got a chance of getting in! I'm gonna surpass even All Might, the Number One Hero, and carve my name in the history books!"
As always, he's got a big mouth and an even bigger ego to match.
The teacher decides to burst his bubble, though.
"Don't Midoriya and [Name] also want to go to U.A?" he remarks.
Katsuki freezes up. So does the whole class, for that matter.
