Chapter Fifty-Six

Madison's POV

Madison traced over every single line and defined muscles from her lover's naked upper half. Her fingers glided along the tattoos and scars that littered the beautiful body lying next to her. She studied the way Kian's chest fell up and down. Her ears were filled with the sound of waves crashing in the ocean. For the first time in a while, Kian looked serene and peaceful like the weight of the world wasn't crashing down on her. Madison was happy she was able to provide the Marine a getaway where they could forget about everything that's happened in the past year, and hopefully prepare her for work in the coming weeks.

She recognized the difficulties Kian would face, things wouldn't be the same once she stepped back into the surroundings of her platoon. She had expressed concern about being treated differently or seen as fragile. While that may have been true months ago, Kian had made significant progress in her recovery. The sun began to rise, casting a soft, flattering light on Kian's face, accentuating her sharp features, and messy hair.

She stirred, turning to face Madison with sleepy eyes and a warm smile, "Morning." The corner of her eyes crinkled as she smiled

Madison's stomach fluttered at the sound of her raspy voice, "Hey."

Kian flipped onto her stomach hugging the pillow. The brunette watched as the Marine's muscles moved fluidly beneath her skin.

Peeking through one eye she looked over at Madison's adoring eyes, "Enjoying the view?"

"Always," Madison told her pushing the short strands away from her girlfriend's face. She watched as a small smile stretched across Kian's face.

The musician shifted onto her elbows, "What? Why are you smiling? Do I have drool on my face or something?"

"No, quite the opposite. Even in the morning, you look unreal. You are ethereal."

Madison didn't bother to respond with words, instead, she covered the Marine's mouth with hers. Kian rolled onto her back as the singer pushed her body up and over the larger one, throwing one leg over Kian's hips. Her hand fell on either side of the raven-haired woman's head, larger hands gripped her slim waist holding her steady. Slowly and filled with so much fervor and passion they kissed like it was their first time. Madison's hand fell into Kian's short hair pulling her closer. Their bodies fit tight against each other, bare skin rubbed against the thin fabric of Madison's shirt.

Madison panted pulling away from Kian, "Why are you so perfect? God, and this mouth. This mouth has a habit of making me feel so good." Her lithe fingers brushed against Kian cheek down to her lips

"I'm far from perfect pretty girl. But for you, I'd be anything and everything."

"You are everything, and so much more."

Kian hummed as they kissed again, but ultimately pulled away "We should get up, maybe go into town, grab some brunch, or go to the beach.." The Marine suggested, "Maybe do some tanning, preferably in that black bikini I saw you packing."

Madison smirked enjoying the height advantage, "How do you know about my surprise? I made sure to sneak it into my luggage."

"You're not as sneaky as you think Ms. Barnes."

Madison finally agreed rolling off of her. Kian stood stretching her body while the singer watched as every muscle worked to hold those powerful arms above her head. She crawled towards Kian, throwing her arms around her neck from behind.

Kissing her shoulder, "Why don't we shower together, save some time and water." Madison suggested nipping on the tip of Kian's ear softly.

In return Kian groaned, turning around, she wrapped her arms around the petite waist lifting the giggling mess off the bed. They disappeared into the bathroom, ripping of the minimal clothing they had on. Lips locked and body parts tangled the couple stumbled into the shower, Kian searched for the handle allowing water to rain down on them. The two laughed in between kisses water poured on them but they didn't care, they were too lost in one another to do so.
