Kian's POV
I glanced down at Murray as he moved up towards us, with us also suppressing fire for him. The second I looked away a scream pulled me back to him, scanning my eyes down his body he had been shot. They had gotten him in the calf, before his body could fall another bullet was fired, this time it went straight through his head. The life drained out of his eyes, while blood poured out and covered his face. His eyes locked with the Lieutenant.
Kian's eyes tracked as the body hit the sand with a thud. Her heart dropped out of her chest, without thinking she started running towards her friend. She looked down the mountain towards the direction the shot came from, and as soon as she did that. Her eyes were met with another bullet, gunning straight for her-.
Kian shot up looking around frantically, the sand and hot weather her brain told her she was in wasn't there. She struggled to take a breath, the dead corpse and gunshots were gone. She leaned wearily against the bed's frame, beads of sweat trickling down her bare torso. As she scanned the room, her gaze landed on the used tissues and medication placed on her bedside table. Right, she's sick. It all came back to her, including the presence of her best friend waiting in the living room.
Part of her was surprised the nightmares that plagued her recently hadn't persisted, this time it had been more of a memory. Sad to say she was extremely grateful it changed. The door swung open and she froze as the last person she anticipated walked in.
Madison walked in further with a tray of what she assumed was soup, "You're awake. How are you feeling?"
Still disoriented, Kian just stared dumbly. "What...what are you doing here?"
She ignored the question and sat the tray containing chicken noodle soup, a piece of bread, and a glass of water on its legs above the sick woman, "We made you soup." Madison sat on the side of her bed
"We?" Kian grumbled slowly coming back to her senses.
"Yeah, Oliva and I"
"Oliva's here?"
"Yes, now stop asking questions and eat."
The Lieutenant was too tired to argue, so she relented picking the spoon up. Her hand shook slightly as she brought it up to her mouth. Stupid nightmares always took a toll on her body, probably from the fight-or-flight responses it set her in. Before the spoon even made it to her mouth almost all of its contents had fallen out. Angrily she dropped the spoon, causing it to splash in the bowl.
"I'm not hungry" She muttered agitated
She felt embarrassed and weak. Two emotions she absolutely despised, especially in front of prying eyes. Sweeping her sweat-drenched hair away from her face, she vigorously rubbed her eye, determined to regain composure. Yet, her hand trembled, sending her into a deeper state of rage. A surge of anger welled up in her, constricting her throat. A petite hand firmly grasped her wrist, and she shot a furious glare at the singer. To her surprise, she encountered the same emotion reflected in Madison's eyes. The hand forcefully lowered her own, pressing it against the bed. They stared each other down, the tension palpable. After a long moment, Madison released her grip and silently fished the fallen spoon from the bowl
Wiping the spoon clean with the napkin Madison dipped it into the soup bringing it up to the Lieutenant's mouth.
"I said I'm not hungry."
"Either eat the damn soup or I'm pouring it down your fucking throat." Madison threatened furiously
Kian glared back defiantly. "I don't remember calling you to come take care of me, last I checked we aren't exactly on speaking terms. So why are you here?"
