Chapter 22

FEW weeks had passed and Melrose didn't see Luciferus again. Ginulo lang nito ang utak niya. After he said those words, he just disappeared.

"You fine?"

She looked at Maximus. She's still wondering why he hasn't left the country until now. Mukhang sobrang importante ng babaeng hinahanap nito na hanggang ngayon ay hinahanap pa rin nito.

"Medyo. Pagod ako sa work."

"Wanna hang out? Tulog na si Everest, we can leave him to David."

"Saan naman tayo pupunta?"

"Club, of course."

Pumayag na lang siya kay Maximus dahil mukhang kailangan mga niyang mag relax kahit saglit. They left Everest to her dad. They went to Heaven's Gate. Naalala niya na naman si Luciferus. That man really knows how to fuck her mind so good.

She let Maximus order their drinks after getting a table. Nagulat siya sa dami ng alak na dala ni Maximus.

"'Yung totoo, broken ka ba? Palagi ka na lang nag iinom." She clicked her tongue when Maximus settled in. He just open a beer for her and he starts drinking.

"She don't want to see me," napatingin siya kay Maximus. Nakatingin ito sa mga taong malayang sumasayaw sa dance floor. "She hates me. She don't want me. She really loathe me to death."

"I told you, baka may nagawa kang hindi maganda. Or maybe you broke her so hard that she don't feel anything but hatred," napabuntong-hininga siya. The words she had said seem to reflect on her. "Men have different ways of pursuing a women, or pleasing them. It's how you show them how sincere you are. Try harder, it's either you win or just give up."

"The hardest part is, she really is good at hiding. I don't know, I don't know anymore. I'm so tired."

Natahimik na si Melrose dahil hindi niya na alam ang sasabihin. She can't just give advice to Maximus, that would be one-sided, she don't know his story.

Nakarami na rin sila ng inom kaya umiikot na ang kaniyang paningin.

"Banyo lang ako," paalam niya kay Maximus. "Huwag kang aalis jan!" She almost drop to her knees when her vision blurred but Maximus was fast to catch her.

"Damn, Melrose! Can't you be careful?" Inis na turan ni Maximus sa kaniya. She look up to him. Hindi niya alam kung gaano na karami ang kaniyang nainom dahil talaga iba na ang tama sa kaniya ng alak. She must be crazy for thinking Luciferus was the one hugging her right now.

Pinaupo siya ni Maximus sa kaniyang kinauupuan kaya napasandal siya doon. She can feel her head spinning. Sobrang dami niya talagang nainom, siya ata ang broken hindi si Maximus dahil mas bagsak pa siya. O talagang mababa ang alcohol tolerance niya.

Umangat ang kaniyang mukha nang may humawak sa baba niya. She can smell a men perfume.

"You're looking for Herania Luarez?"

Her forehead knotted when she heard a familiar voice. Kung hindi siya nagkakamali it was Luciferus. Kilalang kilala niya ang boses nito. She can't be wrong.

"What do you know?" It's Maximus.

"Everything. She was my secretary before, she left years ago but I always keep on track of my secretaries in case something happened to my business."

Napaungol siya nang may humaplos sa kaniyang leeg.

"Get on point."

"I will give you what you need, leave Melrose to me."

Maximus let out a harsh sighed. "She's all yours. And stop fucking with Reed's business, will you?"

"He fucked with my business first, I just made him taste his own wine."
