Chapter 16 Warmth

Li Xiangxiang believed it and said goodbye to Gu Yun and went home.

Gu Yun walked for a while with the quilt in her arms, and when she saw that there was no one around, she put the quilt in the room. She didn't want to attract attention by walking on the road with a large quilt in her arms.

Gu Yun walked home lightly with her schoolbag on her back and empty hands.

It was already dark when she got home. Gu Jianguo and Liu Hehua had already prepared the meal and put it on the stove to warm it, waiting for her to come back and eat. The coldness in Gu Yun's heart caused by the cold wind outside immediately dissipated, and she felt warm and very moved.

But she still said to Gu Jianguo and Liu Hehua, "Mom and Dad, don't wait for me next time. Put my rice in the pot and keep it warm for you to eat first." Although she was touched, she didn't want her parents to wait for her to eat with an empty stomach.

Liu Hehua smiled and said, "You little girl, are you still worried about starving your parents? Don't worry, your parents had a full lunch and are not hungry now."

Gu Jianguo also asked her where she went after school happily.

She said that she went to the town department store with her classmates to buy things, and the couple didn't ask any more questions. But after the meal, he stuffed her with fifty cents, saying that it was for her pocket money, and she usually agreed with her classmates to buy snacks or something.

Gu Yun's heart was like a ball of cotton, and she wanted to say something but couldn't. I can only silently say sorry to the original owner who is no longer here.

After dinner, Gu Yun rushed to wash the dishes, which made Liu Hehua and Gu Jianguo praise the lady for being sensible and considerate.

After washing the dishes, Gu Yun made sure that there was no one outside before quietly sneaking to the hut.

The first time is unfamiliar, the second time is familiar. Gu Yun was quite familiar with the place this time. She didn't expect to give it to him in person. Just like last time, she put the quilt at the door and covered it with straw and left.

Gu Yun thought on the way, I don't know when he will take it in. Fortunately, it is a sunny day and it doesn't rain.

You Ming is a light sleeper. He heard the noise outside at once. He knew that the little girl was delivering things again. He planned to bring the things in after she left, and return them to her tomorrow along with the bag of rice in the main room.

He didn't know why he brought the bag of rice back in, even though he had said he was going to throw it away. Perhaps he saw those clear eyes and couldn't bear to see her kindness go to waste...

After Gu Yun's footsteps faded away, he opened the door and was stunned when he saw a quilt covered with straw.

The weather had been getting colder these days, and the house was a little drafty. There was a faint sign of a recurrence of rheumatism on his legs. The bed was still the old quilt that an old woman in the village had given him out of pity when he first arrived. It had been used for many years and was no longer warm.

He couldn't buy a new one, so he could only cover himself with the cold and hard quilt without any warmth, and put all his clothes on it. He had been spending the winter like this for many years. He would endure it and it would pass.

You Ming reached out and took away the straw covering the quilt, but saw a piece of paper.

He looked at the paper with complicated eyes.
