Solitary: The Walking Dead

Chapter Twenty-five.

We cant keep living like this.

That day the group got started on preparing, Maggie and Carl had the job of distracting the walkers, Michonne and Iris were killing the stray walkers, Glenn and Daryl were putting razor wire on the floor in the field while Hershel drove the truck for them.

"Come on lets go" Daryl says, Iris takes her knife out of a walker before running over to the truck, jumping into the truck bed with Glen and Daryl while Michonne gets into the front with Hershel.

Rick opens the gate letting the truck through and we all jump out. "They try to drive up to the gate again, maybe some blown tires will stop them." Glenn says.

"Thats a good idea" Rick says "it was michonnes" Daryl says, Iris notices that something was off, Rick was keeping something. "We dont have to win, we just have to make their getting at us more trouble than its worth" Michonne says. The group all walk back inside.

"Rick what are you doing?" Iris asks looking down at the man, finally getting him alone, "getting ready for them to come" he says, "no. not that... your keeping something from us" she says.

"He wants Michonne" the man says not looking at her "okay... your not going to do it are you?" she asks "i have to keep everyone safe" he says. "So you gonna give her to him and let her go through what i did" Iris says. "Its the only way-" "no it aint... theres another way" Iris says walking away from the man.

"Let me come with you" Iris says to Daryl as he gets on his bike, "get on" he says, Iris climbs on and they ride out, bear running ahead keeping watch as they go.

The two get off the bike and follow some tracks, "hey!" Daryl says when they come across Michonne "wheres my brother?" he asks "you kill him?" "he let me go" Michonne says.

"Dont let anyone come after me" he says before running off, Iris and Bear running behind him, leaving Michonne. After some time the two make it to the meeting place from yesterday.

Iris and Bear separate from Daryl and look around, Iris looks down at one of the bodies and recognises it, one of the governors men that took her, lay with a gunshot wound to the head.

She continues looking around and finds more bodies, scattered around, Iris and bear make their way back to Daryl but stop in their tracks.

Iris looks down at Daryl laying down, tears falling down his face, the woman looks at the body next to him and sees his brother. She slowly walks to the man and kneels down next to him, she doesn't say anything. She doesn't know what to say.

All she can do is wrap her arms around the man from behind and hug him. After sitting like that for a while the woman stands and walks around grabbing the mans arrows from some of the walkers head.

When she gets back to him, he was stood waiting for her, she walks over to him, handing him the arrows and they start making their way back to his bike, neither of them saying anything.

The group start packing their things putting it all in the cars, Iris hadnt said a word to anyone but Carl since she got back, glancing over at Daryl once in a while to see how he was doing.

After getting ready Iris went into her spot and waited for the governor and his men to turn up, the woman watches as cars start driving towards the prison, Iris lets out a loud whistle and alerts the group that it was time.

The men shoot the first watch tower, making it explode, Iris lifts her gun, watching them through her gun as they get closer. Waiting till it was time to shoot. Iris stays down and watches as they shoot at the building. She watches them get closer and drive through the gate, they walk into the building, a couple staying back looking out.
