Solitary: The Walking Dead

Chapter Thirty-seven.

Fight to the fence!

Rick opens the door and Daryl leads the way, the sound of the door closing behind them draws the attention of the walkers, they kill the walkers surrounding the container and Glenn opens the door, a man runs out and grabs onto Glenn, Glenn pushes the man off him. "We're the same" the man laughs, getting in Rick's face, stepping back and a walker attacks him.

The group hides behind the container as they watch a herd of walkers walk by, "we gotta double back" Bob says "A is that way, we go back, we dont know where we are" Iris says "we dont really have a choice do we?" Daryl asks, suddenly the walkers start to get shot.

"Wait here." Rick says before running towards a broken car away from the others "Rick. Rick!" Iris calls out, a walker comes up behind Rick so Daryl quickly goes over and drives a pole into it's head, a group of people walk past the group, shooting at the walkers.

One last man walks past, Rick quickly grabs the guy, throwing him to the floor and taking his gun, Iris moves towards Rick as he uses the gun to shoot the other. Iris runs over with Rick covering her with the gun as she picks up the weapons from the people on the floor, before running back to the group. She hands Daryl, Glenn and Bob a gun, keeping one for herself, "we're going to have to double back" Rick says. And thats what they did, killing walkers and people, staying hidden and staying vigilant.

Rick runs up the steps and opens the door, Iris, Daryl, Glenn and Bob killing the walkers coming towards them "Come on! Fight to the fence!" Rick shouts to everyone in the train car. Together they fight off the walkers and run to the fence, the herd following them. Everyone climbs over the fence and Iris watches their back, killing as many walkers as she can "come on!" Abraham yells, helping her over the fence following closely behind.

When she lands on the other side of the fence Carl wraps his arm around her waist, she hugs him back thankful to see him again. Daryl leads the group to the spot they buried everything digging it up,"right here" Daryl says handing Rick the shovel "the hell we still around here for?" Abraham asks "guns, some supplies" Rick answers digging.

"Go along the fences, use the rifles, take out the rest of them" Rick explains "what?" Glenn questions "they dont get to live." "rick, we got out. It's over" Glenn says "it's not over till they're all dead" Rick says "Here" Daryl says handing Iris her backpack "thanks" she says putting it on and holding onto Carl's hand again.

"The hell it isn't. That place is on fire. Full of walkers." Rosita says "I'm not dicking around with this crap. We just made it out." Abraham says "The fences are down. They'll run or die." Maggie adds. Iris looks down at her feet, too sore and tired to argue about this, everyone goes quiet and waits for Rick to speak.

Iris looks up at the sound of footsteps, Carol, Daryl runs over to the woman hugging her tightly. Iris walks over to the woman as she gets smothered by Daryl, Carl following close behind her, when Daryl pulls away Iris throws herself at Carol, hugging her.

Iris steps back for everyone else to say hello to the woman, she stands next to Daryl, her eyes flicking up and seeing the man's face covered in emotions. Looking back over to Rick and Carol she reaches for Daryl's hand giving it a comforting squeeze, after taking a moment to look down at the woman's hand holding onto his, he holds it back. "Did you do that?" Rick asks, Carol nods before Rick hugs her, "you have to come with me" she says looking over to Iris.

Carol leads the group down a dirt road, as they come over a hill Iris hears a familia noise, a barking. She looks over at Carol who was looking at her with a smile, and that's when she sees him, Bear, standing with Tyreese and Judith. Iris runs over with Carl, Rick and Sasha, she bends down and strokes him, smiling as he licks her face, standing up straight she follows the dog run over to Daryl and Carol, and she watches Rick and Carl as they hold and kiss Judith.

"I dont know if the fire is still burning" Rick says looking at the smoke above the trees, "it is'' Carol says "yeah, we need to go" Rick says "yeah, but where?" Daryl asks "somewhere far away from there" Rick says, and the group starts moving.

They walk through the woods, as they cross the train track Rick uses mud to ruin the sign, Iris watches Bear as he walks away from the group, keeping his nose to the ground, running back over to Iris every now and then before going off again.
