Chapter 10: Echoes Of Information

"It's been about three days since the pair have left the Wixx estate. Alister's mood has been a complete change since then. No sign of breaking down, blood lust, or any unusual behavioral changes" Zephyr thought to herself.

"Alister, I have a question for you. You said that the castle is in the sky right? How will we get to the castle in the sky?"

"Well, According to a book I have brought, there may be two different ways to approach the floating castle. One, We could use magic to go up but, I'm not very proficient when it comes to earth magic. I can create basic spells like stone walls and stone spears but unfortunately, that's it. The magic I'm more proficient in would be fire, lighting, and another magic category however I'll have to keep that a secret now won't I?" Alister said while smiling at Zephyr and taking in the sensory of the marshlands. "Second, there's said to be an ancient teleporter  to be in a cave nearby; however the book gives a very vivid description of where it's said to be."

Zephyr was a little hurt by Alister's words. Her mind raced about maybe Alister doesn't trust her or perhaps she did something to make Alister feel that.

"Alister, did...did I do something wrong? I mean you can't tell me your secrets but why? Did I do something to lose your sense of trust? I get some secrets are meant to be kept close but you should be able to trust me with something like that right?"

Zephyr began to tear up after speaking due to the pain in her heart with the felling of betrayal.

"I have done nothing but be honest with you and be patient with you I KNOW what it feels, to lose my family, I KNOW what it's like to have nothing to your name but hope and a dream, I know..." before she could finish her words Alister embraced her with a hug.

"I'm sorry! I am sorry, I was only trying to be funny and lighten the mood, honest. I know that you've been there for me from the beginning and I appreciate it. I know you want to help me like I helped you. I want you to know that you're important to me no matter what happens." Alister said while smiling at her and wiping a tear from Zephyr's cheek.

"Plus you know already the other magic I'm proficient in is darkness, remember. That night when we were in the mountains fighting those goblins. The incantation that had odin in it, remember?"

Zephyr's stream of tears began to fade and she felt humiliated about making a big deal about him keeping a secret that she already knew the answer to. However, Zephyr felt better letting out most of her emotions. She just wasn't quite ready to release all of them quite yet.

As the pair continued to walk under the cloudy sky, they eventually came across a forest. Alister pulled a map out of his bag and looked at it intensely.

"So we have a decision to make, we can enter this forest and exit by the time the sun sets or, we could go around making for a day and half trip so, with that all said I shall leave that decision to you, Zephyr.

Alister hands over the map to Zephyr when from behind, a sound could be heard from behind the pair. The sound of a small army approaches them at a rapid pace. Alister unsheathed one of the swords and was ready for combat when over the hill came a traveling carriage with two horses and a man steering them into Alister's and Zephyr's location.

"Howdy madam, could I interest you in a FREE ride to the nearest town? The nearest town from here is Jewels, a mining town that's about a day and a half walk from here and in that forest, there are bad creatures like bears, bats, and more. So what do you say? Also, what is a pretty-looking woman doing here with a man like that anyway".
