Echoes Of The Wixx
Chapter 13: Echoes Of Reflection
The light that illuminates from within the underground city makes it rather difficult to tell the time of day. Alister awakes looking around the room with blurry vision and a fuzzy memory. Laying in the most comfortable thing he's slept in, in quite some time and decides to continue to rest while looking at the ceiling.
While looking up light seeped through the cracks from the wooden ceiling. Alister laid there in silence, trying to recall the events from last night.
"That must have been a dream. I don't think Zephyr would have said those things right? If I recall, I think she said..." While Alister was spilling out his thoughts Zephyr walked in with a few bags and a paper in hand.
"Good, your wake!" Alister sat up in the bed, startled.
"Good Morning Zephyr, How are you doing today?"
Zephyr looked at Alister intensely as she put the bags down on the table.
"I'm good but more importantly why are you acting weird?"
Alister jumped out of bed avoiding the question while peering into the bags.
"Some fresh bread, that sounds delightful right now."
Alister grabbed the still-warm bread and broke it into two pieces. The heat could be seen from the inside of the fluffy bread. Alister began to chop down on half of the bread in one hand and with his other hand extended out, offering Zephyr the other half. Zephyr took the other half of the bread and sat on the other bed in the room.
"Look, Alister, we need to talk. I've done a little bit of research on your next opponent and you are not going to like this."
Zephyr with a worried face, handed Alister the paper in her hand. Alister then stopped stuffing his face to look at the paper.
"Your next opponent is going to be the "Grim Doctor". The doctor is known for some inhuman experiments on anything and everything. From what I had heard he had won the "Gift Of The Gods" two years ago. What worries me is last year he bought some humans and created an ultimate human with six arms and three heads, mixed with metals. The disturbing part is that they had said the heads were screaming in pain the whole time however, they seemed as if they couldn't control their body. I think we need to rethink this. Honestly, what if it is a human? Alister, you couldn't even defend yourself when we got ambushed. Would you seriously be fine in a life-or-death arena if it had a human in it? You can't stalemate either. Someone must die."
Alister put his remaining bread on the table and sat down in the wooden chair. He leaned over and intertwined his fingers together while absorbing Zephyr's concerns.
"Zephyr, I'd like to say thank you so very much. I know you know what this means to me so thank you. After some thinking, I'll do what I must even if that means fighting a human. Plus, one thing that haunts me is the blood. The memory of the blood slowly spilling onto my hands is what holds me back I think. However, I think I have a solution to this. I'll use Kazon to suck them into a vortex. I think that will be my only way to get around this... curse."
Alister slowly rises from the chair and looks at Zephyr with a slight smile on his face.
"Please Zephyr, Continue to put your faith in me. I think, no I know I will win this with a breeze and the best part is, I'll do it without using anything from the Wixx lineage. I'll do it my own way, I will create my own path to walk on." Alister's slight smile is now ear to ear. Alister was ready to deal with anything that might get in his path.
