I sat in my office, staring at the endless emails on my screen.
I was trying to focus, but my mind kept drifting back to the uncomfortable interaction I had with Seo Ye-ji earlier in the day.
It wasn’t the first time she’d tried to insert herself into my life, and lately, her advances were becoming harder to ignore.
I sighed, rubbing my temples.
Things had been going so well with Ji-won—effortless, natural, and easy.
But with Seo Ye-ji constantly hovering, it felt like a looming storm cloud casting a shadow over everything good.
I had worked with Ye-ji on a project months ago, and while we had gotten along professionally, she had started showing signs that she was interested in more.
At first, I had brushed it off as friendliness, and she even went as my blind date, but now it was clear her intentions went far beyond that.
My phone buzzed on the desk, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I picked it up and saw a message from Ye-ji.
Seo Ye-ji: I just passed by your office. Want to grab coffee later? I think we need to talk about something important.
I stared at the message for a moment, debating how to respond.
I knew what she wanted to talk about—it wasn’t coffee or work.
It was another attempt to blur the lines between our professional relationship and something more personal.
I couldn’t ignore it anymore.
I set the phone down without responding and leaned back in my chair.
My thoughts immediately went to Ji-won.
I hadn’t told her much about Seo Ye-ji’s behavior, mostly because I didn’t want to worry her.
But now, it was becoming clear that something had to be done.
Just as I was about to return to my work, there was a knock at my office door.
I looked up and, to my dismay, saw Ye-ji standing in the doorway, a confident smile on her face.
"Soo-hyun," she greeted, stepping inside without waiting for an invitation. "I didn’t hear back from you about coffee. Thought I’d just drop by."
My muscles tensed as she approached my desk, her eyes gleaming with a familiar intensity.
I knew this look—it was the one she wore every time she tried to corner me into a conversation I didn’t want to have.
"I’m really busy today, Ye-ji," I said, my voice calm but firm. "I have a lot of work to get through."
Ye-ji tilted her head, undeterred. "It’ll only take a few minutes. Besides, I think we need to clear the air. I’ve been sensing some… tension between us lately."
