Soo-hyun stood in front of the mirror, his gaze fixed on his reflection as he adjusted the collar of his shirt.
His mind, however, was far from his appearance.
Ever since Ji-won had told him about the latest plot involving her mother, Ji Chang-wook, and Seo Ye-ji, the nagging doubts he had kept buried had begun to res
He had never doubted his feelings for Ji-won—he knew with absolute certainty that he loved her.
But the relentless pressure from the outside, the constant schemes to pull them apart, had started to make him question whether their love was strong enough to withstand everything being thrown at them.
What if Ji-won began to have second thoughts?
What if the pressure from her family became too much for her to handle?
What if Seo Ye-ji found a way to manipulate the situation in her favor?
Soo-hyun sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
He didn’t want to think that way, but he couldn’t deny the fear that had started to creep in.
A knock on the door broke his thoughts, and when he opened it, Ji-won stood there, looking equally distracted.
She had the same look on her face that he had been seeing more often lately—one of quiet determination, but with an undercurrent of doubt.
“Hey,” she said softly, stepping inside. “You ready to go?”
They had planned a quiet dinner at a restaurant they loved, hoping to unwind after the stressful week.
But as Soo-hyun looked at her, he realized they couldn’t keep pushing their feelings aside, pretending everything was okay when it wasn’t.
“Can we talk before we go?” Soo-hyun asked, his voice careful but firm.
Ji-won blinked in surprise but nodded. “Of course. What’s on your mind?”
He motioned for her to sit down, and they settled on the couch.
Soo-hyun struggled to find the right words, but he knew they needed to have this conversation before the doubts festered any further.
“I’ve been thinking a lot lately,” he began, his voice steady but laced with hesitation. “About everything we’ve been through—your family, Seo Ye-ji, Ji Chang-wook—and I can’t help but wonder if it’s starting to affect us. I know I love you, Ji-won, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about where all this pressure is leading us.”
Ji-won stared at him for a moment, her eyes wide with surprise.
She hadn’t expected him to voice these fears, but deep down, she had been thinking about the same things.
