READER'S POV

We arrived at the Hinterlands and I met Scout Harding who explained to me about the situation.

"The Hearld of Andraste! I've heard the stories. Everyone has. We know what you did at the Breach. Inquisition Scout Harding, at your service. I, all of us here, we'll do whatever we can to help," Harding spoke.

"Harding, huh? have you ever been to Kirkwall's Hightown?" Varric asked with a smile.

"Can't say I have, why?"

"You'd be harding in...oh never mind."

"ugh," Cassandra scoffed which made me snicker at her reaction.

"I'm starting to wonder about these 'stories' that everyone's heard."

"Oh, there's nothing to worry about. They only say you're the last great hope for Thedas."

"Oh wonderful," I commented.

'No pressure there,' I thought to myself before I asked her.

"The Hinterlands is a good place to start fixing things. We came to secure horses from Redcliffe's old Horsemaster. I grew up here, and people always said that Dennet's horses were the strongest and fastest this side of the Frostbacks. But with the mage-templar fighting getting out of control, we couldn't get to Dennet. Maker only knows if he's even still alive."

"And mother Giselle?" I asked her.

"She's at the Crossroads helping refugees and the wounded. Our latest reports say that the war's spread there too. Corporal Vale and our men are doing what they can do to help protect the people, but even they won't be able to hold out very long. you best get going. No time to lose."

"You heard her, let's get going," I told the others before we left the camp and headed for the Crossroads.

We came across some of the mages and Templars along the way. Cassandra tried to get them to stop fighting but, it was no good. They wouldn't listen to reason and that's hardly surprising. They don't care about the innocents that are trying to escape from the war. I'm glad my little brother isn't here to see this mess, this would've traumatised him.

"Stop! we're not your enemies!" Cassandra shouted as she blocked a Templar's sword with her shield.

I got behind him and stabbed him in the neck. I pulled out my blade and said, "Its no good. They won't see reason."

"She's right!" Solas shouted before he used his ice magic to freeze the mages before they could do anything else.

I took down another Templar before I heard running behind me. I turned around and saw another Templar ready to attack me before a cross bolt shot out of nowhere and stabbed him in the head. After he collapsed onto the ground, I looked Varric and he said, "Gotta watch your back, kid."

"Thanks Varric."

Once the enemies were dealt with, our soldiers placed the Inquisition banner onto the Crossroads to declare that this place is protected by the Inquisition. This way, the enemies will know who they're up against should the mages and Templars decide to spread the fighting over here again. I smiled in relief knowing this before I searched for mother Giselle. I found her tending to the wounded but the injured soldier was looking at the healer with fear in his eyes. No surprise there. With the mages fighting, its hard to tell if they are on our side these days.

"There are mages here who can heal your wounds. Lie still," Mother Giselle spoke in that gentle tone of hers.

"Don't...let them touch me, Mother. Their magic..."
