You met a certain pair of volleyball playing twins when you were young. Your older friend, Ojiro Aran, was actually there when you met them.

Yes, you met the twins when learning about volleyball at a local club for kids. You wanted to play after your father had been a member of the MSBY Black Jackals. Your older brother, Haru, also plays volleyball. You look up to both of them. Your mom apparently played volleyball back when she was in school, so she sometimes helped you with practicing.

You took an interest in the Miya twins. They weren't like other people you knew. Osamu was kind of quiet, yet he was kind and helpful. Atsumu, on the other hand, was loud and quite rude. It seemed like he would go out of his way just to make fun of you.

Yet, somehow, you were considered a better volleyball player than both of the twins. You assumed Atsumu was just jealous of your skills. You didn't think there were other possible reasons. Mainly because those other reasons didn't make sense to you.

In fact, even as kids, Miya Atsumu had a crush on you. He started feeling that way since the first time he watched you in the club. It was even more impressive to him that you were a girl. He's not a misogynist or anything like that, but he just assumed that most girls wouldn't be able to keep up with boys. To him, you were special. And he wanted to treat you specially. Unfortunately for him, some wires crossed in his brain, and he was unable to act nice to you.

In fact, you found Atsumu to be quite a bully. You couldn't say whether you liked him or not, but you definitely felt different whenever you had the boy's attention. And you came to realize that whenever it came to volleyball, you were almost always the center of his attention. At first, you'd get nervous to have his eyes on you. But, you eventually got used to it. In fact, you'd go up to Aran and the Miya twins, and ask what they thought of your skills once you did something during lessons.

Aran was always supportive, constantly giving you praise for everything you do. He'd welcome you over to wherever he was and smile at you, saying you were always getting better with your playing. He believed you could become a professional volleyball player, if that was what your heart desired. "Good job, Y/n. Maybe you could get scouted for a pro team while we're still in school. You might not even need to go to college." That was just one line he'd say while you all are able to take breaks from learning to play the sport.

Osamu would give you a thumbs up. Sometimes he'd say something, but most of the time he'd remain silent. "Nice kill."

You would slowly turn to the other twin, nervousness filling your entire being. "A-anythin' ya want to say, Atsumu-san?"

The honey brown eyed boy would take a pause, looking into your eyes. "It was fine, I guess. Could always be better. I know yer short, but try jumpin' higher. Ya barely even make it to the net." He turns his back to you, then walks away while internally scolding himself for the rudeness he gave to you.

You sigh, training your eyes on the floor of the gym. "Did I do somethin' to 'im at some point?"

Osamu shrugs. "Doubt it was anythin' ya did. He's probably just got a stick up his butt or somethin'."

Aran gently pat your shoulder. "Don't let it get to you. Atsumu is just a rude person, based on what I've seen from him. Don't take it personally. You're a great person and he's stupid if he can't see that."

You force a smile onto your face, trying to shake off the negativity. "I guess yer right. Come on, let's do more spikin' practice."

Aran nods, guiding you towards the adult that was helping kids do spikes. Osamu watches you walk away for a moment. He hesitates, thinking whether or not he wanted to spike or go join his twin. After a few moments of just standing in place, he eventually walks off to regroup with his brother.

"Tsumu, what's yer problem? L/n has done nothin' to you, so why ya bein' such a jerk to her?"

Atsumu tenses, squeezing the ball he was holding. "No reason. Sometimes I just don't feel like I should be nice to anyone for any reason. Why should I go out of my way to be nice to someone that won't be in my life forever?"

Osamu raises a brow, a skeptical look on his face. "How do ya know she won't be in our life longer? Ya never know, she might always be around. As like someone who goes to the same school as us, or works with us in the future. Or somethin' like that, ya know."

Atsumu didn't face his twin, a small smile forming on his face. He rather liked the idea of always having you around, he thought it might be fun to spend more time with you. "Who knows. Maybe she will, maybe she won't. Not like I care either way. I'm gonna continue with settin' practice. Ya joinin' or not?" He starts walking off to learn to set more.

Osamu sighs, picking up his feet to follow his twin. "I'm comin', I'm comin'. Don't be a jerk." He grumbled as he moves his feet forward.

Meanwhile, you jumped to hit another set. This time, you managed to jump a little higher. You jumped almost too high to hit the ball, but you managed to get it over the net. It wasn't your strongest spike, but it was definitely your highest one. You landed, feeling a small sense of pride swelling in your chest. You quietly cheer for yourself. "Alright! I'm gonna be the girl who jumps the highest in the girls' division!"

Aran gives you high fives as you walk towards him, getting ready to get back in line to spike some more. "That was awesome, Y/n! I can't wait to see how much higher you can jump as we get older!"

You give him a slight nod, smiling at him as you walk past him. "Thanks, Aran."

From the other side of the gym, Atsumu's eyes followed your figure, a fond smile on his face. 'She's amazin'.'
