Mai glances at you in the locker room. "You seem different today, Y/n. Did something happen?"

You sigh, your eyes falling to the floor. "During break, I walked to Sumu's classroom and looked out the window. He came out and we talked for a bit."

"Was something said?"

" 'Is feelins for me never changed. He's unhappy, but he doesn't care as long as he thinks I'm doin' well."

She narrowed her eyes at you. "And how are you feeling now?"

You grip your shirt, right over where your heart is. "It hurts. I still love 'im so much."

"But, I'm guessing you don't want to end things with Shiro?"

You shake your head. "I don't wanna hurt 'im."

Mai sighs. "You're already hurting Shiro by even loving Atsumu in the first place. Be honest with your feelings, and actually listen to your heart for once. Do what you know will make you happy."

You nod, sniffling and trying to fight the tears that want to come out. "I'll see what I can do."

The taller girl hums. "You and Shiro haven't kissed since the night you got together, right?"

"No. We only hug and hold hands. He sometimes kisses my cheek or somethin', but I kinda dodge 'im when he tries kissin' my lips."

"See, you're probably hurting him. You should just be honest about your feelings and call things off before they escalate any further. By the time of the inter high in June, you better end this fake relationship, Y/n. You've got 2 months to do this. Don't try to find excuses to stop it."

"Right. I'll be thinkin' of how to do it."

Mai smiles at you. "Good. Now finish getting changed, we have a practice to start. The first years are being introduced today. I think everyone wants our vice captain and ace, the L/n Y/n to be present when we get our new members."

You chuckle, getting yourself together again. "Right. I'll be out in a second. Go on without me."

"Ah, you're gonna make a grand entrance. How fitting of the star player." She laughs to herself, soon leaving the locker room.

Your smile quickly falls and you remain standning in place in front of your locker. "Don't think, just feel. Ya can do this." You smack both sides of your face, then walk out of the locker room.

"I was hopin' for more members." Suki breathes out in the locker room once practice ended.

Mai nods. "Yeah, but 4 members are better than nothing. And one is a libero, so now we've got 2. And another one is another setter. Then we gained 2 middle blockers. I think we'll be fine."

You hum, reaching into your locker to grab your track jacket. "Our third years are gonna be used more, since they have the experience. We have plenty of middle blockers and wing spikers between the third years and us second years. Having 2 liberos and setters should be fine for this year. Hopefully, we get way more recruits next year."

Suki snorts. "Yeah, we're gonna end up in desperate need of more players next year."

You close your locker, having finished getting changed. "Think about it positively. We'll still have enough players for a full team once the third years leave."

Mai leans up against her locker. "The third years are leaving after the inter high. They already made up their minds. We lose about half of of current roster over the summer. Within that time, we're gonna be working these first years nonstop."

You grab your bag, slinging it over your shoulder. "I hope they'll push through instead of quit. I'll be continuin' to make sure they know how important they are to the team. I hope ya can do the way."

Mai gives you a thumbs up, starting to move towards the door. "Will do, ace, and future captain." She pointed finger guns at you.

You roll your eyes, walking to the door of the locker room. "Do ya gotta bring that up? We got a few months 'til I take over."

The taller girl shrugs. "Who cares about that? Either way, you're the next captain. Might as well start bragging about it now."

Suki stayed by her locker. "I got some things to do. I'll see ya both tomorrow!"

You nod, waving at her. "See ya, Suki." You walk of the locker room, also leaving the gym, Mai by your side.

She stops you before you reach the entrance gate of the school. "Hey, Samu. How was your practice?"

Osamu walks over, 2 boys right behind him. "It was good. We got plenty of new players. Maybe 1 of 'em will get used on the bench."

Suna yawned. "I'm tired. As much as I'd love to stay here with all of you, I'm going home and going to bed."

You smile at him. "See ya, Rin." You watch him wave, then disappear into the night.

Atsumu looks at you. "How was yer practice?"

You flinch, slowly looking at him. "Ah, well, we got 4 new players. So we're set for when the third years leave after the inter high." You quickly look away, feeling heat build in your face.

The setter smiles. "Good to hear. Samu, I'm headin' home. I'll tell ma that yer walkin' yer girlfriend home." He walks off, trying to not look at you.

You release a breath you hadn't realized you'd been holding. "I'm goin' home and killin' myself."

"Sure, but don't die." Mai watches as you vanish into the night.

Osamu raises a brow, watching the last races of you disappear into darkness. "What's goin' on there?"

Mai grins. "Your twin and Y/n talked earlier today. Let's just say, the moody setter confessed his feelings and Y/n took it to heart. It's been in her head all day."

"Ya think they'll rekindle their former relationship?"

"I can confirm, for a fact, that Y/n and Shiro will be done with by the time of the inter high. When that time comes, it'll be all up to Atsumu."

Osamu grins. "I'll make sure he doesn't fuck up his chances."

"Are we playing matchmaker now?"

He nods. "This time, I'm not stoppin' 'til by brother gets the girl of 'is dreams."
