Your dad narrows his eyes in your direction. "Who's this?"

Your eyes widen for a moment, you slightly turn your body and lift an arm up to gesture to the boy. "This is Matsumoto Shiro. He's a friend I made today, and who I was studyin' with. He's in the boys' soccer club."

Haru just stares in disbelief. "Ya brought a boy home."

You look at Shiro, then slowly turn back to everyone in the backyard. "Uh, yeah. I brought Samu, Atsumu, and Aran home before. Is there a problem with me bringin' home Shiro?"

Your mom smiles awkwardly at the new guest. "Hello. How are ya?"

"I'm good." Shiro turns to you. "I see everyone in your family has the Kansai dialect."

You nod. "We're all from here." You turn back to everyone else. "Seriously, what are ya still doin' here? We have mornin' practices and school tomorrow."

Atsumu was staring at the boy beside you, a glare glowing in his eyes. "Where have ya been? Do ya know how late it is, Y/n?"

You blink, visibly confused. "I've been studyin'. All of you have been too busy with volleyball, that I bet ya haven't even started on yer homework."

Your dad chuckles. "Don't worry bout that, sweetie. We been workin' hard. I think we made some serious progress tonight. How - how was studyin'?"

"Good."

Shiro rubbed the back of his neck. "So, uh... who's who, Y/n?"

You point to each person as you spoke. "Ya already met Mai and Kiku. That's my ma, that's my pop, and that's my brother, Haru. That boy there is Aran, that one is Osamu, and that's Atsumu."

"Ah. N-nice to meet you all." He leans against the door frame, but still remaining close to you.

Haru glares at you and the boy beside you. "Why the fuck did ya bring him here? And where the hell have ya been?"

You roll your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest. "I've been at Shiro's house. We studied together once practice ended. I brought him here cuz he wanted to walk me home, and I offered to let him come inside for a bit before he goes home."

Aran sensed the tension forming. "It - it's nice to meet you, Matsumoto-kun. How did you meet Y/n?"

"We sit next to each other in class." Shiro glances at you, only to find you still staring down your brother. "Uh, Y/n? I think it's time I get going now."

You slowly turn your head to look at him. "Oh, really? I'll walk ya to the front and see ya off." You turn away from the back door, closing it behind you. You walk to the front door with Shiro right by your side. You open the front door, watching as he walks into the street. "Get home safe. Night."

"Goodnight!" He starts jogging out of sight.

The moment you can't see him any longer, you close the front door and walk to the back door. You open the door, walking out into the yard. "Yer still practicin'?"

Kiku nodded eagerly. "We really wanna be the best teams this year!"

Mai walked over to you. "I'm calling it a night. As Y/n said, we still have homework." She pauses once she stood beside you, facing the opposite direction you were. "There seem to be quite a few people unhappy about the whole Shiro thing. Good luck." She walks into your house, leaving to go home.

Aran slowly backed away from the net. "I think Mai is on to something. I think I better get home now, and do my homework. I'll see you all tomorrow." Quickly, he leaves, not daring to say another word to anyone.

Kiku pouted. "But I wanna go for a little longer!"

Your dad closes his eyes while a smile rests on his face, rubbing the back of his neck. "I think Y/n's right. We better call it a night. Everyone should go home and do their homework. School is important too."

Osamu nods, starting to walk over to you. "Sumu's pissed. Don't get left alone with him." He pats your shoulder before quickly retreating into the house, where he waits in the living room for his brother to come get his stuff so they could head home.

Your mom hurries to the back door. "I'll make somethin' quick for dinner. Did ya already eat, Y/n?"

"Yeah. Shiro's ma fed us."

"Alright." She goes inside the house, closing the door behind her.

Haru stalks to the door, giving you a dirty look before disappearing into the house.

Your dad quickly ushers Kiku into the house. "Let's get goin' now. Ya'll see Y/n tomorrow." They vanish into the house.

All that was left outside was you and Atsumu. Alone. Together.

You turn away from him. "Ya stayed long enough. Ya better not keep yer brother waitin'."

Atsumu walked over to you, roughly grabbing you by the collar of your shirt. "The hell?! Ya just spend all night with that guy and then dare come here and order us around?! What the fuck is wrong with ya?! Do ya have some screws loose or somethin'?"

You meet his gaze, flinching from the intensity of his eyes. "What's yer problem? Why are ya gettin' so mad at me?"

He uses his grip on your collar to shake you back and forth. "Ya don't care bout any of us, do ya? Ya only care bout some boy ya just met this morning. Is that it? Do ya only care bout new people? Ya don't give a fuck bout anyone ya've known for a long time, do ya?"

"Yer all my friends, but I'm puttin' my studies before volleyball. I go to my practices, I do better than everyone else. I don't need this extra practice. Yer the one to told me to act as if I didn't know ya, to not bother ya. I'm doin' what ya wanted. I just happened to make a new friend and am spendin' time with other people. If that's not what ya want, then say it."

Atsumu uses all his strength to throw you, forcing you onto the ground. "Yer an idiot! Even if ya do all that work in school, ya won't see results. Ya'll always be in the stupid classes! Ya'll be worthless without us! Don't try changin' yerself now! Ya think more people will like ya if ya change yerself? They won't! Yer lucky enough to have me and everyone else in yer life! Yer a selfish bitch if ya do whatever ya want! I hate ya!" Without letting you get a sibgle word in, he storms into your house.

Your left alone outside, still on the ground. You slowly get up, dusting yourself off. You stare at the grass below you, tears building in your eyes. Gradually, they spill, cascading down your face and falling to the grass. You bring your hands to your face, covering it completely.

"Atsumu, ya jerk! I hate ya too!"

But you knew, deep inside, you didn't hate him.
