You do some stretches, cooling down as practice wraps up. You look to your right, making eye contact with Mai. "Hey, Mai. Do ya wanna stay behind for some extra serving practice with me?"

"Sure. I need to get more power behind my jump serves anyways. It could always use more work. I'm guessing you've already talked it over with the captain and coach?"

You nod. "Yeah."

Mai glances around the gym, then moves closer to you. "Are Kiku and Suki staying behind?"

You shake your head. "I didn't say a word to them. After what happened at the finals, I've not said a word to Kiku nor have I really been close to her. As for Suki, she seems to cling to Kiku and they seem to be on the same page. Kiku should be with Sumu, while I go with Shiro."

The taller girl snorts. "I hate that about them. They don't even seem to actually care about your feelings. I think we should just drop them as friends."

"I don't know. Suki and I got along from the moment we met. I mean, yeah she can go on bout things I strongly disagree with, but I can't say I dislike 'er."

"And what about Kiku?"

"Oh, she's dead to me."

Mai chuckled, walking with you to one of the ball carts. "Knew it. Ever since Kiku first started crushing on Atsumu, she's been becoming completely unbearable."

You grab a ball from the cart, then walk to the serve line, taking 6 steps away. You spin the ball in your head, trying to focus.

Mai has uncontrollable giggles. "Y/n, I noticed that you and Atsumu take the same amount of steps when you serve."

You look over at you, continuing to spin the ball in your hands. "Really?" You think about it. "Huh. Yer right. Don't ya take 6 steps too? We learned serves from the same people."

She shakes her head. "I take at least 10 steps away from the serve line. You and Atsumu match each other when it comes to steps corresponding with which serve you do. You both do jump serves and jump floaters, and take the same amount of steps. You both take 4 for the jump floater, 6 for your other serve."

You hum, looking at the ball in your hands and spinning it some more. "Which is why he should like me and not Kiku."

The rest of the team comes out of the locker room, heading to the exit.

Suki walks over to you, Kiku behind her. "Yer stayin' longer?"

You nod. "We just wanted to get some extra practice in."

"Alright then. See ya tomorrow." The other wing spiker walks to the exit.

Kiku hums, then smiles. "I'm gonna go meet up with Atsumu. See you both tomorrow!" She skips out, the door closing loudly behind her.

You turn to the court, tossing the ball into the air. You make your running approach and jump high into the air. You spike the ball with your hand, the strength of all your body making contact with the ball. It zooms to the other side of the net, harshly hitting the floor with a deafeningly loud thud that sounded almost like thunder crashing. The ball flies off after ricocheting off the floor, ending up on the second floor of the gym after nearly hitting the ceiling.

Mai looks almost scared, seeing the furious look on your face. "Y-Y/n? You good?"

"I'm gonna kill 'er."

The door to the gym opens, Osamu, Suna, Aran, Kita, Akagi, and Ginjima walking inside.

Kita stares at you continue fuming in the middle of the gym. "We were told you 2 were still in here. As agreed upon earlier, I'm walking you home, L/n."

Not saying a word to anyone, you grab a ball and repeat your process. Your terrifying serves echoed through the building, scaring almost everyone watching you.

Mai flinched with your every movement. "In case you couldn't tell, she's in a bit of a bad mood."

Osamu snorts. "So is Sumu. He's pissed that Kiku is clingin' to 'im."

You felt something in your brain snap. "DON'T SPEAK OF 'IM!" And you deliver your strongest serve yet, sending the ball flying to the ceiling after it bounces off the floor. You start screaming trying to punch and kick the nearest wall.

Mai panics. "Y/n! Calm down! Stop throwing a fit!"

"NO! HE'S AN ASSHOLE AND KIKU IS A FUCKIN' WHORE!" You punch the wall with the last bit of your strength, feeling something hurt intensely. You remove your hand from the wall, seeing blood dripping from your knuckles. "Shit." You breathe heavily as you calm down from your rage.

Kita walks over, grabbing your hand while holding a first aid kit. "Are you done now?"

You nod, still focusing on your breathing.

"Good. Now this might sting a little." He takes out a rubbing alcohol prep pad, gently rubbing it across your knuckles.

You let out a hiss, flinching at the stinging sensation. "Why?!"

"You need to take proper care of yourself. Does your hand hurt more than usual?"

You look at the floor. "No."

Kita hums, grabbing bandages and wrapping your hand. "Go get changed. I'm taking you home and we can talk about everything."

You hang your head, knowing what you were going to be forced to tell him. "Yes, Kita-senpai." You drag your feet across the floor, making your way to the locker room.

Mai goes upstairs, tossing down the balls you hit onto the second floor. "Can you guys help me put all of this away?"

The boys get to work, putting the volleyballs back into the ball cart. They put the ball carts into the storage room, taking down the net and putting it in the same place. They gather by the entrance of the gym, while Mai goes back to the locker room to shower and change.

She passes by the shower you were in. "Are you ok?"

You have tears sliding down your face as you remain in the shower. "No. The guy I fell for kissed another girl in front of me, then doesn't even try talkin' to me again. To make things worse, the girl practically flaunts that she's getting closer with 'im." You throw your head into the stream of water, letting it wash over your hair and face. "This is the worst year of my life, Mai."

Mai sighs, turning the water on for her own shower. "I think the guys are concerned for you now. I mean, no one has ever seen you break down like that."

"Can ya blame me? I never really get overly emotional. This is the first time I've ever like someone romantically. This kinda hurts worse than anythin' else I've been through."

"I get that. Why don't I walk home with you and Kita-senpai?"

You turn the water off, having just finished your shower. "No. I think I could use some time alone with 'im."
