Jogging up toward the door I thanked the lady that held it open and walked toward the office , it was mid October here in Atlanta and the weather has been vile to say the least , today was somber with light rain but I didn't mind I loved when the weather settled in like this .. except having to go to work in it pulling my lanyard forward I unlocked my office door and closed it behind me , turning the heater on I sat my belongings down and started my laptop up so I could clock in .. today would luckily be my last Friday for seven days and I was more than grateful being the only registered nurse on call aside from the schedule was draining , but I appreciated God for getting me to this point .. having your own shop then working seven days on wasn't for the weak .

Being twenty four and having that license RN behind my name in this field of wanna be mean girls at our big grown ages had me losing many jobs .. up until I found this one it quickly became home I work at a physical therapy assisted living facility , and I can genuinely say I love my job coming in contact with residents whom stays either long term or short having supportive coworkers is really everything especially when you love what you do ..

Sitting back up in my seat I checked the time on my watch and grabbed some files that sat on my desk .. today a new residents would be coming in after skimming his file my eyes grew big before they settled back down , reading his age "twenty five" i shook my head .. he had a accident and his currently here short term for lower body physical therapy as of now he's wheelchair bound  .

"He's so young." I sulked

Don't get me wrong I came in contact with a couple of young residents .. I feel things just genuinely hit you differently when you see there isn't a big gap age wise .. closing his file I grabbed it in my left hand and made my way out my office and on the floor greeting workers and residents in passing .. I made my way toward the linen closet I always prepared the rooms for residents , it takes heat off the rest of the nurses whom are currently assisting elsewhere someone is always needed especially in a facility like this ..

Heading toward the empty room that sat across from the linen closet I grabbed the cleaning cart to start preparing for his arrival .. which could've been any minute now he was coming all the way from New Orleans I didn't have much on him in his file like how he's in this predicament , or why he would be coming this far out but I planned to ask question upon his arrival ..

After spraying the room with Lysol then a quick spritz of room spray I stepped back and smiled , adding more little necessities as far as hygiene products and more clean linen I grabbed the cart that sat behind me and pushed it out the room and back into the closet ..

"Ryan I think the new resident has arrived." The white girl Kathy spoke behind me

"Okay thank you Kathy spread news , you know the routine." I smiled softly as she did the same

Walking toward my office I watched as whomever it was laid slouched in a wheelchair with a hoodie covering his face .. the person behind him could be seen in scrubs so I quickly made my way over to her being this was his prior caretaker ..

"Hello welcome to Reign physics I'm Ryan the registered nurse I'll be his caretaker for today ." I spoke smiling

"Hey uh ." Pointing toward the door I caught on to what she was asking and followed her "So I'm sure you have his file and I'm sure you quickly realized it wasn't much , the issue with all this is that's all we have he was born and raised in New Orleans , the hospital said he was dropped at their beckon call with his closed covered in blood .. other than that he won't talk to us about anything that happened, we also don't have the equipment that he will be needing that's where the big move comes into play .. also family is very minimum to my understanding ."
