chapter thirty-four.

When Karina woke up, the high she had gotten from destroying Mikael's soul was gone. She dragged herself out of bed and realized she was in nothing but a tee shirt and her underwear, she lifted the shirt to smell it and could instantly tell it was Kol's.

She realized that she was home at least.

She exited her room, and she could hear chatter downstairs, she followed the noise and was shocked to see the Mikaelson's in her kitchen along with her parents.

"What's going on?" Karina asked as Kol walked over to her worried. "What's wrong?"

"What's wrong?" Kol asked her confused, "You passed out after doing a spell."

Karina flinched as she met her mother's stern gaze, "Mom-"

"-Don't mom me!" Aurora cut her off while approaching her making Kol step to the side. "You used dark magic again, didn't you?"

"I had to." Karina sighed making Aurora shake her head. "If I didn't remove him from the world entirely, he would've been able to come back."

"That doesn't mean tamper with your magic!" Aurora practically yelled making Karina flinch away from her. Aurora noticed and immediately regretted it, "I'm sorry." Karina nodded but didn't speak, "Karina, I'm just worried. You know what dark magic does to you."

"I'm sorry to cut in." Rebekah spoke up from her spot beside Javier. "What happens when Karina uses dark magic?"

Karina sighed and ran a hand through her hair, "Clark magic is powerful but it's also dark. My magic is known to destroy everything it touches, it's why its ten times more painful when I inflict pain on a supernatural being. So, when I do any spell that's considered dark, I lose myself in the high that it gives me."

"That's what happened then when Stefan tried to attack you." Kol noted and Karina nodded.

"And back when we were hunting for wolves." Klaus said and Karina was surprised her remembered, "You placed a barrier around us but in return the area around us died as well."

Karina sighed, "Clark magic is destruction itself."

"So, no more dark magic." Bonnie spoke up making Karina look at her as she realized the witch was there. "I mean, if it's dark magic that's the problem then you should stop."

Karina shook her head and gave Bonnie a small smile, "It's not that simple Bon. A lot of spells I do, actually any powerful spell requires me to tap into my full potential of magic." She ignored the looks they all gave her and sighed. "I'm in full control, but when I lose myself it's only because I've already drained myself and protecting over a dozen hybrids, drains someone." She said pointedly towards Klaus who gave her a grin. "Now, what are we talking about?"

"Leaving Mystic Falls." Andrew spoke making them all look at him. "While it's our home, it's proven to be no longer safe. Especially since you've killed Damon and there's no guarantee that Stefan won't retaliate."

Karina sat down on a stool and looked at her dad. "You'd consider moving? Leaving Mystic Falls?"

"If it means keeping William and Aurora safe, then yes." Andrew told her and Karina gave him a small smile. "I know you can protect us, that you're more than capable but I don't want you to have to do that Karina. You're my little girl, it's my job to protect you."

Karina wiped away the tears that dared to fall and reached across the counter to grab his hands and squeeze them. "So, what was your idea?"

"That's what we were talking about." Aurora told her while walking over to stand beside Andrew again.
