You glared up at the giant figure, standing protectively in front of Flowey, gripping your knife tightly as you prepared to strike at any moment. You did care about him, in your own, twisted way.
"Okay then, 'Gaster'. Who sent you?" You asked, not dropping your guard for even a moment, which caused Gaster to let out a sound which sounded a lot like a chuckle but wasn't quite there.
Gaster once again started making signs with his hands, with his voice appearing in your head. "I've been watching you for a long, long time, Y/N." He said. "No one has sent me. But I suppose you can say that I am an old acquaintance of the one you call 'All for One'." He said
You already felt your head starting to hurt from Gaster's strange way of speaking. It felt like someone was shoving thoughts into your mind, extremely intrusive. "Is that so? I hope you're not here to tell him my location, because I'm afraid you won't be leaving this room if that's the case." You threatened.
Once again, Gaster made that laugh-like sound. "Oh, no. I'm here on my own business. The two of us should talk." Gaster said.
"We're talking right now, so get to your point." You said, genuinely wanting to kill this guy just for being in your room.
"I've witnessed your power. Your... DETERMINATION. But it's been getting out of control recently, hasn't it? Your power has been behaving strangely, has it not?" Gaster asked, obviously already knowing the answer. "Show me your SOUL." Gaster said, no- commanded.
You felt as if your body moved on its own, your SOUL emerging from your chest, covered in the strange black substance. Gaster once again laughed, though it sounded a lot more sinister this time. "I see. Your DETERMINATION is powerful indeed. But it has been corrupted. Tainted by a different power." Gaster began, reaching out to touch your SOUL and, strangely enough, the black substance didn't fight back against him like it would against you or Flowey.
"What are you talking about, old man? My DETERMINATION is as powerful as ever, if not more. Do you mean to tell me you know what this black stuff is?" You asked, genuinely perplexed by what Gaster was saying.
Gaster nodded, continuing his explanation. "Your DETERMINATION is your drive to keep going. Your will made manifest. The ability to survive after death simply by willing it to be so. But in your attempts to grow more powerful, you made space for another trait. A far darker one." Gaster began, picking up your SOUL in his hand. "Hate." He stated simply. "Your bloodlust, your desire to keep growing, regardless of what your actions to do others, allowed for Hate to settle in your very SOUL." Gaster said, finally revealing what the black substance is. "The red in your SOUL represents DETERMINATION. This black substance that is threatening to take over is Hate. How interesting." Gaster said, examining your SOUL a bit closer.
You were confused. What the hell was he talking about? Your DETERMINATION was your quirk, not a byproduct of your SOUL, wasn't it? So, how could another trait be taking over?
Gaster laughed once more, noticing your confusion. "Did you really believe that this power is something as simple as a quirk? A quirk, this powerful? I know your bloodlust made you hateful, but I didn't know it made you naive, too." Gaster said.
"DETERMINATION is something else, entirely. All human beings possess it, though very few have enough of it to use it. Throughout maybe 100 years, only two that I know of were capable of using it, you included. The other one, although he could use it, couldn't use it anywhere near your level." Gaster said. "Not even I know what exactly DETERMINATION is, where it comes from." He said.
