Meanwhile, Mantis and Tai Lung were standing in front of Daiyu, who was sitting cross-legged on the ground in a meditative state. They've remained like that for at least half an hour, waiting for her to break contact with the others back at the Valley of Peace to continue their search for the gate to Nanzhou.
Despite Tai Lung's agitation his urge to argue that they needed to hurry, he remained patient and waited for Daiyu to come back from her trance. And while doing so, he got himself into a conversation with Mantis to kill some time.
"Hey, um. I couldn't help but overhear your conversation back at the rooftop this morning. Who's this Yina and the "little one"?" Tai Lung asked. "Are those new students?"
"Those are her daughters." Mantis answered, tilting his head at Daiyu. "And they might become new students soon."
Blinking, Tai Lung looked at Daiyu, who still seemed to be in a meditative state.
"She has children?" Tai Lung asked.
"Yeah." Mantis nodded. "But she still hasn't got a name for her youngest. She and Crane have been dwelling on it for weeks."
"Him?! Out of everyone she could've married, she married that pencil-necked nit?" Tai Lung gawped at Daiyu, eying her up and down. "What did she see in him? Manageability?"
"Dude!" Mantis said. "Why do you even care?"
"Okay, okay. Easy, tiny. She still could've done better and I certainly don't blame her for having no idea about his looks. He must have deceived her somehow. Might be false advertising." Tai Lung replied backhandedly. There was a brief pause, before he then said. "But back on the name issue. If you wouldn't mind. Well, I've... I've always liked the name Aihan, maybe they can use that one."
"Well, good luck convincing her. She's definitely not gonna take name suggestions from you." Mantis chuckled smugly.
"You never know." Tai Lung said. "So, tiny, tell me something." Tai Lung started. "What did she mean when she said she had a solution for your "current" problem?"
Mantis sighed, before explaining.
"Now that Po has become a mentor and pretty soon the new head of the Jade Palace, he has to teach them, train them, guide them and eventually leave Oogway's wisdom and the Jade Palace in their care, which I think should-..."
"Po? A mentor?" Tai Lung cackled. "What could he possibly teach those children?"
"Well, he's improved a lot throughout the years, big guy." Mantis told him. "But when the fox tried to rob the Jade Palace-..."
"Rob the Jade Palace?" Tai Lung cut him off, Mantis nodded.
"Yes, big guy. She even wrecked some of the relics there. And after we caught her and sent her away to jail for 2 years, she decided it would be funny to spit in Daiyu's face and now she's got 6 years on her sentence, which Po offers to reduce once all of this will be over."
Tai Lung slowly nodded.
"Okay. So he thought taking the fox would make her have a change of heart?" Tai Lung guessed.
"Pretty much." Mantis replied. "I mean, it seems futile. Daiyu is the one who knows this place quite well. And we all have more faith in her and we trust her not to do anything shady, y'know?"
"I see." Tai Lung hummed, a hint of hidden anger in his voice. "So first he gave the staff right to The Chameleon and now this? Everyone must have lost their minds since I got sent away."
"Hey, what happened to the staff was beyond our control and practically all of us have tried to convince Po otherwise, but he never backs down once he's determined to go for it." Mantis replied.
