"Are we late?" Theo ran into the waiting room like wild water, Clara, his girlfriend, scuttled behind him, firmly holding a few blue balloons. Theo carried the biggest teddy bear Blaise had ever seen. The stuffed animal was almost as big as him.
"Nobody ever said it was a boy," Blaise pointed at the balloons.
"I just know it is," Theo blinked at his friend and looked over the crowded room. Alora's mother was nervously tapping to her knee with her fingers while her husband was rubbing her back soothingly and Narcissa was holding her other hand. Alora's grandmother was smiling happily while knitting a pair of bright yellow baby socks. Felix was whispering something to his wife. Everyone was just so excited and thrilled but the hint of nervosity was still in the air.
"I didn't know you were a seer." Blaise snickered, pulling Theo's attention back to him.
"Hush! Where is Beca?" Theo asked curiously and sat the giant plush bear on the empty seat next to his friend where he expected his fiancé.
"In Japan, she has some important business meetings there. She was really angry that they didn't let her colleague go instead of her. He was apparently not experienced enough for it."
"I can imagine she has to travel a lot since she works in the International Magical Cooperation department." Clara chimed in.
"How you two work together is out of my mind. How often do you see each other? Didn't you spend most of the year in America with your team? I am still deeply offended that you didn't send me any free tickets, by the way."
"There are several advantages to being a wizard, Theodor. One of them is the existence of the Floo network and apparition."
The two friends continued with their bickering for several more minutes as they waited for any news from the hospital staff. The minutes became hours and the waiting room became more and more silent as the people in there fell asleep one by one in uncomfortable positions.
No one even noticed when the door to the waiting room finally opened and an elderly woman in healer uniformy walked in. She snickered with shaking head as she noticed the giant teddy bear which was now serving as a comfortable pillow for both Blaise and Theo. She quietly walked over the room and shook Blaise's shoulder gently since he was sitting the closest.
Blaise slowly opened his eyes, blinking several times to focus his look at the person in front of him. It took him a good minute to realize where he was and why he was there. But as soon as it clicked he jumped up to his feet, pulling the bear with him.
Theo, suddenly losing his pillow, felt straight on his face, hitting the hard surface of the hospital chair. That, of course, woke him up and his cursing, of course, woke up everybody else. The waiting room was suddenly buzzing with life as everyone was talking over each other, trying to find out what was happening.
"So?" Blaise looked at the nurse with an excited voice.
"Congratulations, you are an uncle. Everyone is happy and healthy," she smiled at him."You can come in. But I would like to ask you...go just two people at a time. The birth was really tiring for all of them and we don't want to overwhelm them."
"You should go first," Narcissa looked at Theo and Blaise.
"Really? Shouldn't their family go first? Thomas? Holly?" Theo turned to Alora's parents.
"But you are a family, darling,"Holly patted his cheek affectionately. "I am sure Alora would also agree. Just go."
Theo quickly understood that there is no reason to argue so he just nodded and followed the healer with Blaise close behind him.
