ERNALINE'S POV:
I was so shocked when I recognizes Kuya Rommy. I didn't expect that I will encounter him in America. Alam kong kapatid siya ni Renal dahil ito mismo ang humawak sa kaso ni Renal na siyang isinampa ni Kuya Reiden kay Renal. Napawalang-bisa yun dahil nakiusap sa akin si Kuya Rommy. Ayaw ko na rin naman ng gulo kaya hinayaan ko na.
"I didn't expect to see you here," ani ni Kuya Rommy nang makilala ako. Mukhang nakita niya ako noong gabi ng engagement party ni Perth at Serenity.
Ngumiti ako nang ilapag ni Kuya Rommy ang isang tray na naglalaman nang prutas at pagkain sa coffee table. Kuya Rommy invited me to their house so as Sirene's request because she wanted to learn more about how to play the guitar. I didn't eat breakfast and it was already lunch time. I enjoyed Sirene's company that's why I don't mind eating lunch.
"I was surprised too when you pop up out of nowhere. So, anak mo si Sirene?"
Sabay kaming lumingon sa bata na naglalaro sa sala gamit ang gitara ko, malayo sa aming dalawa kung saan kami nag-uusap. Kuya Rommy smiled as he saw his daughter enjoying what she does with my guitar.
"Yes, Serenity and I got an annulment after she drags Sirene into her mess."
"I thought she's Perth's daughter?" nagtatakang tanong ko. Akala ko si Perth ang Ama ni Sirene at mukhang panibagong balita na naman ang bubulaga sa akin.
"What? Of course not. Serenity left Dezrail because I got her pregnant and then we decided to get married here in America. I didn't know that Dezrail and Serenity are together. I just woke up on a bed with Serenity when I was taking my course as a law student in a university," paliwanag ni Kuya Rommy.
"I was so busy at my work at that time when Serenity took Sirene and bring her to the Philippines without me knowing, if Renal didn't call me, Dezrail might lock in a situation he didn't deserve."
I looked at Sirene who was still playing.
"So, how do you know about my cousin, Dezrail?" dugtong pa nito kaya naman napatingin ako sa kanya. Hindi ko alam na magpinsan sila ni Perth.
"He's the father of my child."
"What? Then why are you here?"
I looked at my hands before answering Kuya Rommy's question.
"I ran away because I thought Perth and Serenity got married. When I woke up from the hospital, my brother gave me an envelope with the content of their wedding pictures. I was so hurt that time that I wanted to kill myself and then I found out that I'm already pregnant and Perth is the father. My world went upside down because I don't know what to do on how to handle this kind of thing." mahinahong sambit ko.
"That's impossible, Ashleigh. Before we got here, I already delivered all of our documents to Dezrail, hindi naman sila pwedeng ikasal dahil nawalan na 'yon nang bisa. Ang pamilya mismo ni Serenity ang umayaw."
"Hindi ko na alam kung sino ang papaniwalaan ko, Kuya."
Kuya Rommy heave a sigh as he look at me.
"You need to tell Dezrail about it, Ashleigh. Look at us, this is where we are when Serenity has gone mad because of her love for my cousin. I also loved her but she chooses to chase my cousin. She even lay a hand on Sirene that's why I decided to take her custody under my name."
I understand now why Sirene hates her Mom. Pinipilit nito sa bata ang isang bagay na hindi naman nararapat lalo na't merong Rommy Ocampo na nagi-exist sa buhay ni Sirene.
Ginugol ko na lang ang natitirang oras ko sa pakikipag-usap kay Kuya Rommy. And when the sun goes down, I decided to go home.
"Are you okay if you walk alone to your house? We can accompany you," Sirene said when I bid my goodbye.
