Chapter 36: FUCK THE MEDIA!!!

*Harry's POV*

The elevator went black and I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face. The fact that I couldn't see improved my other senses. I could hear a large crack of thunder through the thick doors of the lift. I heard Maddy shift and her breathing sped. Slowly, my eyes adjusted and I could see her silhouette in the far corner. I felt the walls of the small space until I found the buttons. My fingers searched desperately until I discovered the emergency button. I pressed it and waited. After a few seconds, a small beep was heard and a mans voice broke the silence.

"What is your emergency?" He asked.

"Um. We were in the lift, and it just..stopped. I don't know why." I said in an unsure voice.

"How many are in there with you?"

"There are two people total. Including me."

"And do you have power?"

"No." My voice was strangely confident.

"It was probably the rain. We'll look for the problem immediately. Just stay put until further notice." He ordered. I don't know where else we would go. Another beep sounded, and the silence came back. I heard a sniffle and a contained sob from behind me. I spun around and slowly walked towards it. My outstretched arms embraced the upset girl. She accepted my hug, but then realized what she was doing.

"D-don't touch m-me.." She whispered and slipped out of my grasp. Was she honestly still mad? She had said she hated me, but in the case of an emergency, I think we should be able to forgive each other. At least temporarily. I leapt forward and collected her in my arms again. She may have cheated, but I didn't. And I needed her to know that. She tried to push away, but I walked until she was backed into a corner. I held her to my chest and pushed her farther into the corner. There was no escape.

"I didn't cheat on you. I was hugging a fan. She asked for a hug and she had helped my pick out a gift for you so I gave it to her." I breathed into Maddy's neck. Maddy had stopped pushing, and slumped against me. She stayed quiet so I spoke again.

"I never thought you would cheat on me. I still love you, though. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but I still love you." I tried to see her face but it was too dark. I felt her tense.

"I didn't cheat on you. That was my cousin. I told you before." She said fiercely. Her cousin? Could she possibly be lying? But she said her cousin had come to stay with her. She's telling the truth?

"Y-your cousin?" I asked.

"Yes. I hadn't seen him in years, Harry. Years. Did you expect me to not even hug him? Maybe if I had know that paps were there, I would've brought him inside or something." She spoke solemnly. I felt my insides begin to flutter and a smile filled my face.

It was all a big misunderstanding.

"I. Am. So. Sorry." I told her. Maddy suddenly put her arms around me and hugged me closer.

"No. I'm the sorry one." She said into my chest. I chuckled and kissed her forehead.

"We have a pretty messed up relationship, don't we?" I asked her.

"You always knew that. What this was going to be like. Tiresome and messy. Didn't you? Isn't it always like that?" She questioned. I felt her eyes on mine. Although I still had trouble seeing in the dark, I could imagine the curious gaze she would be wearing.

"Yeah. It's defiantly got it's cons. But that doesn't change the massive number of pros." I pressed a feather light kiss on her nose. Maddy's giggle filled up the cramped space. Her arms circled my neck and her hands went into my hair. I tightened my grip around her waist and both of our heartbeats became unbelievably fast. We both leaned in and had no clue when our lips would touch. We couldn't see each other. We couldn't see anything at all.
