Chapter 12: I wouldn't survive without these curls

*Harry's POV*

Once the show ended, I ran backstage and waited for Paul to bring Maddy. When she came into view I smiled.

"Enjoy the show, love?" I asked her. She giggled and nodded vigorously.

"What was your favorite song?"

She looked torn for a moment. "Hmmm...either More Than This, Taken, or Same Mistakes."

"Interesting." I told her. I would've thought she liked something like Rock Me the best. Oh well...

"Harry!" I heard someone call. I turned and saw Zayn.

"Yeah?"

"Louis said we're having a film night at your flat. Maddy's invited, of course!"

"Sounds good."

I turned back to Maddy. "Up for a movie night?" I asked.

"Psh. Please. Lets stay UP ALL NIGHT!!!"

"Wow. How...original..." I snorted.

We laughed together. Eventually Paul pushed us to the dressing room to collect our things. We then walked to our cars. I open the door of my car for Maddy to get in. When she did, I gently shut it. Louis stopped before getting into his car. He held up a hand to prevent Zayn, Niall and Liam from getting in. I watched him suspiciously.

"I think...I think Niall should ride with Harry and Maddy. Ya know, just so my car isn't too crowded."

"What?" Niall looked horrified. He quickly composed himself. "Uh, I mean..nah. We should give 'em their privacy."

"Niall, please. Harry is just a child. He needs to be supervised. Especially when there is a girl around. He can't control his hormones yet." Louis said with a wave of his hand.

Niall took a small step towards my car while frantically glancing between Louis and me.

"Louis" I called to him, "we wouldn't want to scar Niall like that. I mean, he's never seen my hormones going crazy before."

"Ok then. I guess you'll just have to spend the car ride listening to cryptic sayings and deep thoughts. Zayn?" Louis smirked.

"Louis. Are you trying to make everything awkward?"

"Oh silly Hazza. If I was, then I would ride with you myself."

"I'm not riding with anyone except for Maddy."

"I don't think so. Liam!"

"No!"

"Yep."

"No, Louis!"

"Yes, Harry!"

"No."

"Yeah."

Suddenly Maddy's door flew open. She jumped out. "Oh, for the love of my sanity. I'll ride with Louis and Zayn. Niall and Liam can go with Harry." She walked to Louis's car, and got in the back.

"What?!" I exclaimed. Louis smiled and got in the drivers seat. I glared at Zayn as he walked to the passengers side. He was trying to hide his smile.

"Sorry. But the lady is the boss." He said before climbing in.

Niall was full on laughing and he crawled in my car. Liam followed me and got in as well. I was fuming as I started the engine.

"Maybe we shouldn't let Harry drive when he's mad at Louis. Especially when Louis is in the car ahead of us." Liam pointed out.

This just sent Niall into more hysterics. I pulled out of the parking lot. I was driving awfully close to Louis's bumper. The only thing stopping me from running over him was Maddy. I kept her smiling face in my mind until I got to the flat, and stepped out of the car. Then I spun around to Louis and growled at him.

"YOU'RE DEAD, BOO BEAR!" I screamed before charging. I chased him around the small lot and into the apartment building. We ran up the stairs to our floor. When we got to our flat I shoved him against the door, and he fake cried. The others appeared behind me, and I marveled at the sound of Maddy's light laughter.

"Hazza is killing me!!" Louis wept. I turned and grinned at the others.

Big mistake.

Louis took advantage of my defenseless back by jumping on me. I staggered under his weight and opened the door to our flat. I was still giving Louis a piggy back ride as I slipped off my shoes, and went to make popcorn. Zayn and Liam went to look for a good movie and Niall followed me to the kitchen. He pulled all kinds of food from the pantries and refrigerator. Louis laughed as he yanked at my hair.

"You can hurt me all you want. But you will never. I repeat, NEVER, hurt the curls, mister." I yelled. I attempted to dump him off my back but unfortunately he was still gripping my hair. I screeched as my head stabbed with pain. Louis was sprawled on the ground with a few strands of my poor hair between his fingers. I held my head tightly, wincing.

I heard Maddy's enlightening giggle, and saw her watching from the doorway. "Ouch. You alright there, Louis?" She asked.

"Yeah. Thanks Mad." Louis replied. He stood abruptly and gave me a menacing look. Then he lightly slapped me across the face, and pranced out of the kitchen. Maddy barely held back her laughter. Niall wasn't any better.

"What do you mean, 'is Louis alright?'. I'm the one in pain!" I rubbed my cheek.

She shook her head and bit down on her lip.

"Toy Story or Up?" Liam called from the tv room.

"Up!" I said.

"Toy story!" Maddy countered.

"Up!" Niall said between mouthfuls of fresh popcorn. Maddy groaned and walked out of the room. MWAHA. That's what she gets. I grabbed the popcorn and followed her. There were sleeping bags spread out on the floor from where Niall has been sleeping. I called dibs on the couch, so Niall, Zayn and Liam sat on the floor, their backs against the front of the couch. I sat right in the middle of Maddy and Louis. We turned off the lights, and started the film. Niall hogged the food, so I had nothing to distract me from the ebbing pain in my scalp. I rubbed it while wincing.

Maddy touched my arm. I turned to her and saw her looking at me with worry. "You okay?" she whispered. I shrugged and turned back to the television. She sighed and placed her hands on my head. Her actions surprised me. She began to massage my sore skin. I almost groaned in delight. I loved when girls touched my hair. Well...girls I liked, anyways. I leaned down so I was laying on the couch with my head in her lap. I put my feet on Louis's lap and saw him wink at me. I wondered if pulling my hair was all part of one of his plans. Probably not.

Maddy moved her fingers in slow agonizing circles. After continually doing this for a while, she began to scratch my scalp with her fingernails. My heart skipped a few beats. Soon, she just stroked my hair. Her fingers ran through the tangles, then played with the curls.

I could've fallen asleep there.

The movie was coming to end and I heard someone sniffle about me. All the boys glanced at Maddy. Everyone had watery eyes but Maddy had tears streaming down her face. Is that why she didn't want to watch this movie? I wiped the tears off her cheeks with my thumb. She smiled at me and sniffled again. I sat up, and engulfed her in a hug. She didn't hug me back, but she rested her head on my shoulder. It was nice that she accepted my touch in some way.

"GROUP HUG!" Louis screamed, and hugged my back. The others came and hugged us also. Leave it to Louis to ruin everything. Maddy laughed shakily and pulled away from me. Ugh. Stupid Boo Bear. Liam went to put a new disc in the DVD player when the movie ended.

"Toy Story now!!" Zayn said. Everyone cheered. In a snap decision, I leapt off the couch and picked up Maddy bridal style. She yelped but then laughed as I spun her around.

"More popcorn!" I chanted. I carried her to the kitchen where I started making more food. I then carried her back to the couch, and handed the popcorn directly to Niall. I kept Maddy wrapped in my arms. She sat in my lap, and the boys were all sneering at me. I ignored them, and held Maddy close as the movie started. Maddy had fidgeted a bit, but soon settled down. After a while, her eyes slid closed, and her face nuzzled into the crook of my neck. Her breathing became even, and I kissed her forehead lightly.

It may have been dark, but I swear she smiled in her sleep.
