Chapter 6: 20 Questions is my new favorite game
*Harry's POV*
I pulled my car up to the side of the road near Maddy's house.
The boys had not enjoyed my long speeches yesterday, and only Liam was really able to give me good advice. 'Keep your relationship away from the paps.' And I didn't plan on exploiting Maddy anytime soon.
I walked up to the front door of her house and knocked. Carrie came galloping to the door and swung it open.
"G'morning, Harry!!!" She exclaimed.
"Morning!"
"Come on in. Maddy is almost ready."
I nodded and followed her into the house. The inside was almost as big as the outside looked. I waited by the front door while Carrie went to tell Maddy I had arrived. Eventually they both came down the stairs. I grinned at Maddy. She looked so beautiful.
"Hello, Harry" she said when she reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Hello, love. Ready to go.?"
She kissed her Mother's cheek, and walked out the front door. I followed her and held the passenger door open for her, like a gentleman. She allowed a small smile to appear on her face as she sat down. I shut the door and raced to the other side of the car. I was about to get in when I heard something. It sounded familiar. Almost like the clicking of a camera when you take a picture. I looked around, wondering where it was coming from. Once I thought it was just my crazy imagination, I got into the car.
"Took you long enough." I heard Maddy mumble.
"It's not my fault that I'm insane." I responded.
She gave me a weird look before looking impatiently through the windshield. I started the car, and began the short ride to the coffee shop. We didn't talk at all on the ride there. Once we arrived, Maddy released a big sigh of relief, and let herself out of the car. Then she ran into the shop, and got in line, leaving me alone. I got out of the car, and followed her inside, grumbling. I stood in line next to her, and waited. We still didn't speak. When it was time to order, I got us both coffees. Once we received those, we went to sit down. I found us a nice semi-private booth. We sat there, and Maddy began sipping her coffee immediately.
"So.." I said, breaking the silence.
She raised her eyebrow at me.
"Just trying to make conversation!" I defended myself, raising my hands in surrender.
"Amazing job." She said sarcastically.
"Hey, at least we're talking now."
"And I am immensely happy about that." She responded, rolling her eyes.
"We'll, somebody doesn't want to be here."
She laughed. But it was humorless. "Exactly, my friend. My mum set up this date, remember?"
I did remember. Her mum also made us exchange numbers.
"Your mum is very sweet." I told her. It was simply a statement. Because I thought, without her mum, we wouldn't even be on a date.
"Yes, she is quite the angel." Maddy said before laughing louder than I'd ever heard her.
"You have an amazing laugh." I said, once she had quieted.
She stopped laughing and looked at me almost annoyed. "Well, I guess it's just like you to ruin my fun by flirting."
I grinned sheepishly, and took a sip of my coffee. She let out a huge yawn, and I noticed how tired she looked.
