"Lilia!" I hear.
I'm so comfortable I can't even comprehend that someone is speaking to me. There is no reason for me to get up early today.
"Lilia!" I hear again, this time a bit louder.
I start to open my eyes. I see Hermione above my bed, looking at me intently. Hermione? Oh shoot. Hermione. I'm at school. I have to get ready for class.
I sit straight up in my bed.
"Finally," Hermione says with a relieved sigh, "We really better get to breakfast so we can make it to class on time." Ugh, class. "I believe you have potions first, is that correct?" I nodded, beginning to get out of bed to get ready. "So do I, and we have it with the Slytherins. We had better not be late, you know Professor Snape won't hesitate to take points away from us."
I nod my head in acknowledgement as I change into my robes for the day.
"Oh, and..." Hermione starts. I look up at her with a questioning look on my face, "You really ought to brush your hair. No offense."
I look in the mirror and I have a terrible bird's nest of hair on my head.
"Oh gosh, thanks Mione." I say, laughing at my reflection.
After I get ready, and Hermione waits impatiently, we walk down to the Great Hall together to get breakfast. We sit down, far away from the rest of the Gryffindor's in our year. I don't see what the big deal is, but Hermione seems to think it will be best to keep our distance until tensions cool down. Whatever that means. They might be uncomfortable around Harry but I don't see why that is a reason for them to treat me any differently.
And yet, I listen to Hermione because she usually knows more than I do.
"Of course, Harry and Ron are nowhere to be seen." She says with a huff.
"Maybe they're skipping breakfast?" I say, filling up my plate with fruit and pastries.
"Knowing Ron?" Hermione asks with a slight undertone of humor, "They're not missing any meals."
We giggle together and enjoy eachother's company. It is nice to be back here. Seriously, I can not express enough how pleasant it is to not have to burn some of your food for every meal.
We keep an eye on the Slytherin table, making sure that not too many people from our year have left to go to class yet. We can't be arriving after them. It would just give Professor Snape another reason to favorite them.
"So, Lilia," Hermione starts, "Did you write Leo last night?" she asks.
I nod while chewing my food, "Yes, I told him that I would let him know when I can visit- after I speak with the professors about Thanksgiving."
Hermione looks at me, expecting me to say more. She glances toward the door, then back at me and asks, "Did you mention what happened the other night?"
"I just told him that it was nice." I say casually, but waiting to see her reaction to determine whether I made the right choice in writing that.
She looked at me with wide, frantic eyes. I tilted my head slightly to the side. Oh wow, maybe I shouldn't have said that. I really didn't think it was that bad though. A good mix between casual and friendly-
"Told who? What was nice?" Ron said from behind me, taking his seat next to me. Oh. Harry sat on the other side of the table and began filling his plate.
"Nothing." Hermione said, trying to cover for me.
Ron looked back and forth between us skeptically, all while putting food on his plate.
