Sunday was full of packing, and goodbyes, until I left that evening with Hagrid. I appreciated that we were making the journey overnight, so I could sleep most of the way. Leaning on a giant can be rather comfortable. I always felt bad though, that Hagrid had to go through all this trouble just to bring me back and forth from camp.
By the time that the sun was coming up, I could see Half-Blood Hill in the distance. I suddenly felt nauseous and alert. I didn't typically get nerves to return home, but I knew this time it was different. I know Will isn't happy with me for not writing him, and now I know Leo isn't happy with me either. This will be interesting.
When we reach Half-Blood Hill, Chiron is already waiting for me next to Thalia's pine. He and Hagrid exchanged hello's and pleasantries before Chiron let Hagrid know that he will not need to return to pick me up. Apparently they have found a different way to get me back to school. I wonder what that will be.
Anyways, Chiron invited Hagrid to the Big House for tea before his journey back. None of the campers were awake yet. I hugged Hagrid goodbye, and headed off to my cabin, Cabin 7.
I quietly opened the door, trying not to wake any of my siblings. I set my things down, then decided to go for a walk to stretch my legs after that journey.
I put on my good sneakers and headed down toward the beach to watch the sunrise while I stroll. As I walked, I could hear some campers starting to get up and moving. I glanced up for a moment, to see if it was any of my friends. Surely enough, Leo Valdez was standing on the porch of Cabin 9 stopped dead in his tracks like a deer in headlights.
I couldn't help but smile, even in the discomfort of things, and gave him a small wave. Before I could think twice we basically ran to eachother. It was like we were magnets that were meant to come together.
We wrapped eachother in the biggest hug, exchanging "I missed you"s and "I'm so mad at you"s. We stood like that for a moment before pulling away. He looked at me the same way he did the day before I left.
Some other campers started strolling by and saying hello. Leo took my hand in his and we headed to the dining pavilion to grab breakfast while he caught me up on recent events at camp. I guess my dad has been around some lately. Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention Apollo got turned into a teenager for a while because Zeus was mad at him, but that's a story for another time. I'm just mad that I'm always at school when he comes around.
Anyways, everything else seems to be pretty normal. No crazy prophecies or anything.
Leo finished catching me up on who is still dating and who has broken up at camp, when Will found us. I felt arms around my shoulders and immediately knew who it was. His mop of golden hair just slightly fell over my face.
"I saw your stuff on your bunk, and just expected you'd be with Valdez." Will huffed.
"Sorry, you were sleeping!" I defend.
He rolls his eyes but takes a seat next to me, "Good to have you back."
And just like that, I felt more at home than ever.
The rest of the day, I spent catching up with people, and even catching up on my training. I went down to the sparring arena for a bit, and I have to say I'm not too rusty.
At the end of the day, all of the campers began gathering around the campfire. This is what I missed the most. I was hanging out with Jason and Piper, who I was thrilled to see. Even Nico, Will's boyfriend, came to spend some time with us.
We all were laughing as I told them stories about how horrible school was going this year. Obviously I couldn't tell them everything, but I did tell them my nightmare stories about getting stuck out of my common room and how Pansy caught Leo and I on Iris message. They all thought this was hilarious.
