When I awoke the next day, Hermione had already headed to breakfast. I slammed my head into my pillow, groaning, knowing what kinds of rumors would be floating around today.
"Malfoy and Gooden were out past curfew again."
"Malfoy and Gooden snuck off during Prefect duty and got caught by Professor Snape"
Or anything else that the portraits managed to gossip about. As soon as a Professor is involved they go nuts.
Luckily, after about 5 minutes of trying to wake up the Fat Lady, I successfully made it into Gryffindor house without receiving detention. Thankfully.
I lazily got ready to go to breakfast, dreading what the day would bring. I tried to look on the bright side, at least Draco and I are finally being open about our friendship. But that means it will be even harder to lie about the DA. So maybe it's not so much of a bright side.
I put on a pair of sweatpants and a Gryffindor sweatshirt and headed down to breakfast. In the common room, I ran into Ginny who walked to the Great Hall with me.
I was tense when we arrived at the table with Hermione. Harry was already there, but I assumed that Ron would still be sleeping.
I caught a glimpse of Draco from the other side of the room, who gave me a soft smile before turning back to Pansy who was sitting next to him. Ginny nudged me with her shoulder.
I started to feel a little bit sick in my stomach. Probably because I was so nervous. I sat down across from Hermione and began to fill up my plate. She didn't seem to have heard anything because she began talking to me like normal.
Harry was zoned out, staring at Cho again. Hermione smacked him, "You have got to stop doing that! You're going to scare the poor girl."
He blushed, looking away.
Seamus and Dean came to join us, smirks on their faces. I put my head down.
"So, looks like you're over your camp boy then, eh Lilia?" Seamus teases.
I give him a look trying to say can you shut the f up? But he doesn't seem to get it.
"Yeah, really. You're a player!" Dean laughs, holding out his hand for a high five.
I put my forehead in my palm, embarrassed. I need to bribe these portraits to keep their mouths shut.
"What are they talking about?" Hermione asks me. I shake my head, sitting up.
Ginny grabs my hand underneath the table and gives it a squeeze.
"Oh she hasn't told you?" Seamus says tauntingly, "Lilia was out late last night making out with Malfoy and got caught by Professor Snape!" He said it like it was a headline for a newspaper.
"Um, yeah, so that's definitely not what happened." I say, finding humor in this.
"Lilia!" Hermione says.
"Then what did happen?" Harry spits at me, clearly angry.
"We literally were still doing our rounds five minutes past midnight and Professor Snape sent us back to our houses. That's it." I say calmly, shrugging.
"Then why are we missing ten house points?" Dean asks, "Even Professor Snape wouldn't take away points for that."
I roll my eyes, "We were in a corridor that we didn't need to be in. But I didn't know that. Really."
