Adjusting to being back from the holidays was draining. We immediately jumped right back into classwork, and I was meeting with the Inquisitorial Squad nearly every single day, in addition to relaying all of the information to Harry so that he would be prepared.
I was trying my best to balance this and my social life, but was struggling terribly.
I hate to admit it, but deep down part of me was excited to reunite with Draco. I thought that it was going to be a lovely moment but we actually hadn't even really seen each other yet.
I met with Umbridge when I got back to school, and she told me that she had spoken with Draco's father, and that he advised that we have opposite patrol hours so that we aren't "distracting" eachother.
My assumption was that he caught wind that we were spending a lot of time together, and he doesn't want his son mingling with a Half-Blood Gryffindor.
Regardless, I've only seen him briefly at Inquisitorial Squad meetings, but I was too stressed to pay much attention to anything other than my duties during those- which I felt guilty about.
The end of the first week was approaching, and I grew more stressed every day.
To make things even worse, Professor Snape assigned us an essay due at the end of the weekend.
At the end of class, I asked Hermione to work on it with me, but she said that she already told Ron that she would help him. I was disappointed, but I loved how close they were becoming.
I turned around to see if Draco and Blaise had left the classroom yet, which they hadn't.
"You guys want to work on this together tonight?" I ask.
When I turned I realized how different things have become. I would have never asked them to do anything with me in the fall, especially not so casually.
"Sure," Blaise shrugged. Draco nodded in agreement but didn't meet my eyes. This bothered me.
I decided to push, "Hey Draco, we should also meet up and discuss Inquisitorial Squad business." I said, meaning business.
He nodded again, but I could tell his thoughts were elsewhere. "Alright."
"Library?" I asked, "Before dinner?"
"Sure," he shrugged, still not meeting my eyes.
I went about the rest of my day, trying to keep a hold on everything that I was dealing with.
I decided to hurry to the Prefect's bathroom to Iris message Leo before I meet Draco in the library. I had been messaging him almost every day around this time.
I ran up and set up my rainbow, asking Iris to show me Leo.
His face popped up in the mist, promptly.
"Hey Sunshine," he smiled, "How was your day?"
"Good," I smiled back, "Yours?"
"Pretty good," he said, "Off to dinner?" He asked.
"Actually, I'm going to meet Draco in the library to go over our Inquisitorial Stuff." I say, shaking my head.
His face falls, "You're still hanging out with him?"
I am taken aback. What does he mean by that? I didn't even tell him about anything that happened between us, plus, Leo and I are just friends. I don't know why he'd expect me to stop hanging out with him.
