Feelings are confusing

I never thought that I would be staring at Draco Malfoy in the Prefect's bathroom in the early hours of the morning with my best friend from camp on an Iris message, and yet here I was.

I had foolishly laid down and pushed my wand to the side to make my situation less conspicuous. I had hoped that whoever ended up walking in on me would come to the conclusion that I had fallen asleep. In hindsight, I know, this was stupid- really, who would casually fall asleep in a bathroom? But I panicked.

Anyways, before I could even sneak a glance at who it was, the annoying voice that I had begun getting used to whispered, "Don't expect me to believe you are actually sleeping, Gooden. I heard you speaking before I came in here."

I sat up. There's no reason to lie at this point. I blinked in his direction, only he wasn't even looking at me, he was intensely looking at... shit.

I follow his line of vision right to my Iris message. Of course. I look back and forth a few times. Leo had his teeth clenched and his eyes squinted like he had just seen someone get socked in the face. Why could he not have ended the call.

"What sort of magic is this?" Malfoy asks in his usual condescending manor, as he takes a seat right next to me, "I haven't seen this used before."

I am still in shock looking between Malfoy and Leo. What a strange crossover event. Would never have placed my money on this one happening. Heck, none of my real friends even have seen Leo.

Leo steps in before I have to reply, "Magic? Sunshine, you guys are up too late, you should get to bed. I've heard sleep deprivation causes delusions and clearly that's what this dude is having."

Saved? Maybe? That was pretty bad, but I appreciate the effort. I continue looking between Leo and Malfoy.

"Got yourself a boyfriend, do you Gooden?" Malfoy asks in a snarky voice.

My face lights up red. I don't even know the answer to that. Leo and I hadn't exactly had that conversation, but we kissed... he said love you... and he called me his girl... are we together?

"I-" I start, not even knowing what was going to come out of my mouth.

"No, best friend though," Leo thankfully interrupts me, which gives me minor relief for a moment before I feel a sinking tugging in my gut. I didn't expect him to say anything different, and yet I'm somehow disappointed? No that's not what it is. "Which is why you should really take my advice Lils and get some rest."

I blush and look at my Iris message, "Can I talk to you tomorrow? We need to make Thanksgiving plans."

"Sure," Leo smiles, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes. I know something is off with him, but now is not the time to talk about it.

Before I could even fully think through my decision I say, "Okay, bye Leo, love you." Now I'm the one saying it. I'm so confused. I turn my wand around so it disrupts the rainbow and shove it into my pocket before and more questions can be asked.

I turn to Malfoy, who is sitting about 5 inches from me. Way too close for my liking. He also has that nasty smirk on his face that he gets before he says something hurtful. "Snuck out to call your boyfriend, did you?" Malfoy asked.

"He's not my boyfriend," I said firmly, "and I got-"

"Locked out by the Fat Lady, I know." Malfoy finished before I could reveal what had happened.

"You know?" I ask, which sounds more accusatory than I had intended, but it did the job, "Are you stalking me or something?"

"Yes." Draco says simply, folding his hands and sitting up straight. I glare at him until he breaks out into a smile and chuckles, "No, Gooden. I wouldn't waste my time with such nonsense. But as I was approaching my own common room I overheard some of the portraits whispering about a girl wandering the castle- and therefore, here we are."
