Winston followed Muir scent until he found him, Muir was no where near the real cave, he got lost in the labyrinth and could not even find his way out, still he was not worried he knew Winston would hunt him down as soon as he would know he had entered the cave and he was right. It did not take Winston long to find him, he just stared annoyed at the bird and worried that things would go awry for Qin. He looked at Muir with displeasing eyes and said nothing for some time, Muir did not move nor talk also and just waited for Winston to make a move, Winston told him to follow him and so he did. Qin was excited, she dulled herself up, the best she could, she wanted to look her best for a new suitor, she braided her hair and put flashy ornaments in her hair, she liked shiny things, she still felt sad that she left most of her jewels and hair ornament in her home but it could not be helped, when she had left she had put on her nicest jewellery and put her favourites hair pieces on her head too so that she could have sentimental pieces her Jin had given her. She finished getting ready and sat down waiting patiently, it did not take long for Winston to arrive back with Muir.
When Muir saw the mermaid, his eyes widened, it was the famous mermaid everyone had been talking about for years, it had to be her, her blue hair and doll like face, there was no other female like her and everyone knew that she had been stolen from the sea even though the Mer clan tried to keep it quiet, stories flew through every village of the famous mermaid. Qin looked at him, she had been practicing hard since she was a child to look innocent and frail, she smiled at him and almost whispered hello, she wanted to seem small, innocent and a little scared. Muir felt a little ache in his heart for the little cub, she seemed so small and so scared, he wondered what had happened to her, he was convinced it had nothing to do with Winston, he would never harm a female, nor would the leopard, he had checked him out and knew he was a healer with a gentle personality, it had to be the feral but why was Winston helping, why did he not help the cub to go back home. Winston did not utter a word but he put his hand on Muir shoulder and pushed down to made him sit down. Muir had no other choice so he sat down. As soon as he had sat down Qin stood up and walked towards him, she came very close to him and checked him out while not saying anything. Qin had to admit she liked what she saw, that eagle was a stunner like all the other males, still it was just not his looks, she liked his personality in the book and she felt close to him. She had felt so bad for him, how things went for him in the book, she was sure she could tame him and give him a happy life, it did not take much to make male beasts happy here and she could do it with her eyes closed, in fact she was looking forward to it.
After examining him for a while she sat down across from him. She gave him her best smile and told him her name was Qin. Muir blushed a little, she was just such a cute little thing, it made him want to protect her, it was instinct to want to protect females, especially little female cubs. Qin told him her story, about her brother, about the crab, about how Curtis had rescued her and all the rest. Muir had never met a feral that did anything good, they did not do anything unless it benefitted them in any way and he was sure that was the same with Curtis, she had been fooled by a feral the poor thing, he wanted to rescue her from him, he could take good care of her by himself. Qin had a hunch what was going on in Muir brain and she would not let him make the same mistake as he did in the book. Qin took his hand and told him that Curtis, Winston and Harvey were her family and if they would be separated she would wither. She made up a story that when mermaids had guardians or mates they made an agreement and it could not be broken, if she would be separated from them for too long she might die, this was just bull but he did not know that. She told him that she had to give her mates a seal of agreement before either they or she left for a long time. Muir had never heard of this with any female, were mermaid really so different from other females, if this was true he could not save her from the feral, he looked at her with somber, a little sad he could not save her from the snake himself. She told him about her brother Jin, she embellished a little to make Muir feel even more sorry for her, she even made a few tears fall, it was enough to snag Muir, he promised he would protect her just as the other ones. She smiled at him and with tears in her eyes asked him if he really meant it, he wanted to hug and care for the little female, he did not dare to hug her so he put his hand on her head and told her he was willing to be her guardian. Qin rushed into his arms and told him that she was so lucky, having such a cute, strong beast like him protecting her. Muir was on her hook and was too tangled to be able to get away, she had snatched yet another beast from Bai and she was not even trying, how easy was this really, she was so happy that she yapped on, complementing both Muir and Winston to the skies, to have a good mate it does not hurt to let them know how much you appreciate them, Qin had not met anyone that did not like to be complemented and she was convinced her method would snag all the beasts she liked.
When Curtis came back to the cave the first thing he smelled was a bird, he did not like birds at all, especially not eagles, in fact he hated them and tried to kill every bird he saw, they were natural enemies. He hurried back into the cave, worried about Qin but what he saw was an unidentified beast being coddled by his Qin, he did not like it one bit, in fact he hated it, he wanted to eat that nasty beast so it would be removed from Qin sight. Qin was farting complements left and right when Curtis came back, when she finally saw him she stopped talking and called out his name. She knew he would not like Muir so it was her job to make everyone accept each other, she did so by using her face and charm, it had not failed her yet, as soon as Curtis saw her running towards him his face went from stone to soft, he loved that little cub and cherished all the attention she gave him. She hurried into his embrace and told him he had been too long, she had missed him. After buttering him up for a while she told him that Muir was now her guardian too, she told him he had to be kind to him since now he was a part of the family. Ever since she had met Curtis she had talked about the importance of family, how much it mattered to her that everyone got a long and that they worked together to create a happy home. Curtis was not happy, Muir was not happy either, he hated snakes just as much snakes hated eagles, they were natural enemies and it would be hard for them to be anything but that but just looking at the face of his cute little cub made his heart soften, he wanted to do anything to make her happy, even if he had to accept a pest like Muir but that did not mean he would trust him anytime soon, he would have to be on the lookout and by how Winston was eyeing the eagle too it seemed they were on the same page. Curtis felt relieved since soon he would hibernate and he had to be sure she would be safe, he did not know that eagle and he could have bad intentions, he looked at Winston, talking to him without using words, he needed information about that bird before he went to hibernate. Winston could see the look Curtis gave him and he knew what he wanted, he understood perfectly, who would trust a beast they did not know, he would not, still Winston knew of Muir and knew he was a very good fighter and could easily take commands, it was still better not to trust him yet, he would make sure that Qin was safe with everything he had, even if he had to kill that dam bird.
