The trip back to the cave was worse than going to get Harvey, poor Muir had a hard time staying in the air, the winds were fierce and would not give him a break, still he was a stubborn eagle and he would not give up, he did as he had done before, he just used whatever strength he could muster up to get back and save the cub. Harvey was having just as a hard time, the winds were so strong that he had a hard time holding on to the eagle, his hands were so soar from holding on so fast but the cold was the worst, he felt numb all over his body so he had a hard time holding on but he still he did not let go, Harvey had never pushed himself as much as he was doing now, he just did not have strength to keep up but the will of anyone can do wonders, the only thing that kept him holding on was the image of the cub smiling and embracing him, she needed him so he had to live, she could not die so he could not die. Their journey in the blizzard took hours and the wind never changed direction, Muir felt like everything was working against him, he was so afraid to fail that little cub, he was a strong beast but had never flown so long in such weather, no one in their right minds would go out during a blizzard but he had no choice. Both Muir and Harvey were getting hypothermia, they had been out too long, still they were close to the cave, just a little bit further and they would make it.
Winston was getting agitated, Muir had been gone for so long, he was worried that the eagle had not made it, he walk to the opening of the cave just to see if he could sense him, he was very worried Qin just would not wake up, he had tried his best to wake her but she just would not open her eyes, he could hear her heart beating slower and slower, he was afraid her body was shutting down, he cursed the eagle for not coming back sooner, he had never felt so helpless as he felt now, he could do nothing to help her, he could only protect her with his strength, how he wished he had learned about healing just so he would know what to do.
Winston saw nothing, there was nothing to see but snow swirling everywhere, the wind was so strong, he prayed to the beast goddess to calm the winds and help Muir bring back Harvey but it seemed his prayers were not answered, after feeling frustrated for a while, he forced himself to calm down, he should be able to sense the eagle if he was in the area, he sat down and meditated like never before, he focused on searching for Muir and by that he could sense Muir, he could not sense Harvey but that was to be expected, he morphed to his tiger form and fought against the wind, he was determined to find them. He had been running for about an hour when he finally reached Muir, he was still alive but barley, he was covered in snow and he would not have found him if he had not been concentrating on his beast aura. Winston put Muir on his back and secured him, it was rather hard since Muir was unconscious but he managed, he did not see Harvey but he was sure he was close by, he used his paws to dig the snow, he scoured the area and after what felt like forever he finally found the leopard, the only reason he found the leopard was his thick fur that he was wearing, thankfully the leopard was still alive, the thick fur had saved his life, without it he would have died. Harvey was still conscious but he was so stiff that he could not move, he was so cold that he could hardly bear it, it thought he saw the tiger but he was sure he was hallucinating. Winston tried to talk to him but it was of not use he made sure to keep Harvey in the thick fur and secure him also on his back. Winston was cold and he was tired, he had not slept much since Qin had been sleeping so long, he was worried about her, he had left her all alone, she was defend less, just thinking of someone hurting her made him move quicker and forget about the wind and the cold. Winston was a fighter and he was also a beast that would not quit so easily so he thought about Qin and that was enough for him to move faster and return back to the cave.
After some gruelling hours he made it back to the cave, the fire had gone out while he was gone, so it was even colder in the cave. Winston was quick to light up a fire and then check on Qin, he was worried that she would be too cold. When he touched her she felt cool to the touch so he almost fainted from fright that she was gone but when he gathered himself he could hear her heartbeat beating still thankfully but it was so slow, too slow. Poor Winston was all alone, Harvey needed time to be able to do anything and Muir was out cold, he had used all his energy up and would most likely be out for days. Winston did the best thing he could do. He put Muir and Harvey close to the fire. He made sure that Qin was also close to it. He made the three of them snuggle up so that they could get warmth from each other too. He did not know what else to do she he made sure to dry everyone well and himself and lie near them all so that they would get more heat. Winston laid next to Qin, he purred because he knew she liked it and he knew it was soothing, he hoped she could feel he was trying to help her. After a little while Winston fell asleep he had been up for days and he had used so much energy saving Harvey and Muir, the last thing he thought about before he fell asleep was that he hoped Curtis would come back soon.
Harvey was the first one to wake up, he had some frostbite but it was not serious, he was still feeling cold though. He could see that everyone was still asleep and the fire had gone out, he was quick to build the fire up and make nourishing soups for everyone. He had a fever, his head was aching but he would live, he had never gone through anything like that before and he hoped he never would again. While the soup was cooking he examined Qin, Winston and Muir did not wake up at all, they needed to gather their strength back, Harvey had gathered that Winston had saved them. He remembered when they hit the ground, they were both lucky to be alive, the snow had broke their fall and what had saved him was that he let go of Muir and held on with all he had to his fur, if he had lost the fur he would have died before Winston would have found him, he was so thankful and he hoped they would never have to go out during a snow storm again. Harvey focused on Qins breathing, it was very slow, he opened her eyelids and she showed no signs of waking up, he tried to pinch her but she did not respond. Harvey did not know much about the merclan since they lived in their own colony and usually did not vent off much to land. He had no idea if she was hibernating or not but it seemed like she was, her breathing indicated that but her body heat was so low, she was so cool to the touch, he did not think she was supposed to be this cold but she might. She had never talked about hibernating so he was sure that she did not hibernate in the sea, maybe because she was not in the sea she had to hibernate, he had not idea and it worried him, all he could do was to try to do his best. He tried to give her some soup but he could not get her to swallow, no matter how hard he tried, it just came out of her mouth and ran down her neck, he was scared, he did not know what to do but he tried to tell himself that she was hibernating, beasts that hibernated did not need to eat while they slept, he made sure to try to keep her warm, that was really all that he could do, he felt glum, Muir had risked his life to get him but he was of no use, he was certain he could not wake her up, they would have to wait until she would open her eyes again, hopefully that would be soon.
