Building a house

Ten days had passed since they had all reunited at the village. It was time to build their own hut for the winter. Qin had a lot of ideas, since they would stay in this village for a long time she wanted their house to be grand, she wanted a big hut, with rooms and a working kitchen, she could easily made a working furnace out of clay, she could even make a stove, she had learned a lot from school. She had taken classes how older civilisation had build houses and made stoves and heating, she had even made all kinds of houses of all kinds of texture, she had also done an assignment where she had to make a stove out of only clay, she had passed with flying colours, she was happy, their home would be the best house in this village, she would make sure of it.

She was glad Winston was there to help, he was a very good builder and could work well on his own, since their home was going to have a few rooms it would take some time to build, it did not matter though, they had plenty of time. She wanted to work too but they would not let her but they let her make all the choices and she got to boss them around. She told them she wanted to make a stove, none of them knew what that was, she told them she had dreamt of it and she was sure the beast goddess had sent her that dream to help them, they believed everything she said, while they were building the home she went to gather enough clay to build a stove and a furnace in every room. While she was busy collecting clay, Alva had noticed the strange cub, he was curious what she was doing and wanted to know why she was playing with dirt, he was just about to go and ask her when he saw Máni, he had beaten him to it and offered to help her. Qin really liked Máni so she was glad to see him, she gave him a smile and showed him what kind of clay she was looking for, he was quick to understand and collect the right kind of clay she wanted, Alva stood not far away, he had never really liked Máni since they were almost equally as handsome but he really was curious so he walked to Qin and asked her what she was doing.

Qin told him she was collecting clay for the new house they were building, Alva asked if she was going to use the clay to build the house, she said that some of it would be build with clay but most would be build with wood. Since he had nothing to do he asked if she needed some help, Qin was glad to have it and accepted his help with a smile. They collected clay for hours it was getting dark when they stopped, Máni and Alva carried the clay back to their home while Qin walked beside them, she offered to make them beautiful hair ornaments for their help, Alva accepted, he liked everything that could enhance his looks so he was excited to see what she would make. While they were walking home Qin asked if the piranha clan ever came to their village to barter, Alva said they came often during summer, Qin was excited, she wanted to make a deal with the piranhas. She wanted to swim in the sea again and collect things she could use and hunt but she would not dare to enter the sea unless she could make an arrangement with them, she hoped they were a nice clan that she could barter with, she could make things for them or give them something else in return, she just needed an opportunity to meet with their leader.

Qin was finally back in the hut, Muir had been watching her from above all the time she was collecting clay so she had been perfectly safe. Curtis, Winston and Harvey were very busy building their new home but Harvey had stopped working earlier than them so he could make dinner for them all. When Qin finally arrived home she smelled something nice, she could hear her stomach grumble, she was very hungry and ready to eat, she had offered Máni and Alva to stay and eat but both politely said no, mostly because Curtis looked at them with his menacing eyes, they dared not to make the snake angry so they hurried back to their own homes.

Qin ate until she was full, then she cleaned herself up and snuggled with Winston and Harvey and fell asleep. It took more than a month to build the house but it was worth the wait, their home was one of a kind, Qin had build a stove and a furnace in very room so it would not be cold during winter, she had also showed them how to build a bed, it was not that hard, it was a luxury she really wanted to have, to sleep in a bed is much better than sleeping on the hard, cold ground, it was much softer and warmer. They build a big bed that could hold all of them, everyone liked the new bed very much, everything she made she said came from the beast goddess, they were happy that the goddess seemed to bless their cub, she was like no other and they were all proud to be her protectors. Everything was wonderful, Qin loved being in this village, she had not met a lot of beasts yet but it was a decent village with lots of possibilities.

Qin had gone with Harvey to collect herbs, she had asked him about vegetables she knew from her old life, she hoped they had it here, in fact she knew they had it since she had read it in the book, she described what she was looking for and Harvey helped her find it, she told him it was eatable, she told him about potatoes, she said it was good to keep during winter, so it could be harvested and kept in a cold, dark place and be eaten for months. Qin knew this could help a lot of beasts during winter. Harvey helped her gather all kinds of vegetables and herbs, she wanted to make a garden in their home and harvest all kinds of vegetables. She decided to share this knowledge with the leader, he had been kind to her and she knew this was something that would benefit everyone.

She showed Harvey how to cook the potatoes, he was amazed, no one ever ate potatoes unless they were starving, since it was not very good but Qin made the potatoe taste nice, she told him it was good to eat with both meat and fish. She told him to go to the leader and show him how to cook potatoes and the other vegetables they had gotten. The leader was very impressed, this would helped his village and save many lives. Harvey showed him where to find potatoes and other vegetables and he even showed them how to grow them. This village was now his home and it was best if they had a good relationship with the leader. Everyone was so happy and thankful that they had decided to stay in their village, their life would now be a little easier because of their help, Qin was happy, she was stealing the spotlight of the female lead, maybe just maybe, she might be able to live a happy life without ever meeting the female lead, she really hoped so, now all she wanted was to grow up so that she could secure her mates, she could not imagine a life without them, she loved them all, life was good and she wanted it to stay that way.
