Troubled mermaid

The pain

Poor Qin had never been in so much pain in both her lives, it was even more horrifying than when she died in her human life. She could not bear it and screamed and cried in pain,  every muscle in her body was cramping, it was so painful that she almost wanted to die, Curtis held her in his arms, cursing the doctor to have left so long, it had been hours and still Muir, Winston nor Harvey were not back. Curtis knew Winston was going to be late since he wanted to hunt a larger prey but Muir and Harvey had no excuse. Muir should have found that dam leopard by now, Curtis thought, he could not leave her but he did not know what to do, he just held her in his arms, scared to even touch her. She was crying with snots and all, pleading with Curtis to stop the pain, she just could not endure it anymore, her little body was convulsing in pain and Curtis was afraid she was going to die, he was going to tear some heads off when they came back home.

Muir had found Harvey but could not get him, he saw in the village but there was nothing he could do, he could not let the beasts get curious about his relationship with the healer, he thought it was wise to wait, even if he knew Qin was in pain, he thought it was best to wait, still he was very nervous and cursed the healer for taking such a long time.

After Harvey had helped and returned back to his hut, he gathered more of his things, hoping that he would not have to return to this village again, he was just about to go out the door when Muir walked in, telling him to hurry since Qin was awake and was in agony. Harvey was frightened out of his wits, the one day he went out she woke up, he hurried and got on Muirs back. The eagle took off in a huff, he flew as death was after him, he was so worried that something was wrong, he was so preoccupied that he did not see Parker following them, Harvey was just as stressed as the eagle and wished he could give Muir more strength so he would arrive faster to Qin.

Winston had caught a huge boar, it had been a strenuous fight, the boar was old and big, usually beasts hunted in packs when hunting a boar of that size but Winston wanted to prove himself worthy especially after seeing the look in Curtis eyes after he came back, he could not wake up Qin but he could hunt and protect her. It was hard dragging the boar all the way to the cave, it was so big and heavy but Winston did not let that stop him not until he heard the screames of a female cub, he knew it was Qin, he dropped the prey as it was and hurried back home, he was scared that the scorpions or her brother had found her, he ran as fast as he could and what he saw when he returned was Qin in Curtis embrace screaming in pain, Winston looked around to see where Harvey was, Curtis was scared and angry and told him to get his ass out there again and find Muir and Harvey, she needed help. Winston was quick to do so, he ran faster than he had ever done but after a while he calmed himself down and thought he could not run aimlessly hoping to find them, he sat down and concentrated on finding Muirs beast aura, thankfully he sensed him, he was not far from the cave. Winston looked up and saw Muir and Harvey, he hurried back to the cave to tell Curtis they were almost there. Since Winston was just as stressed as everyone else he did not sense Parker, following diligently after Muir, he wanted to know what tribe the eagle was from, he thought it was someone he had known but he was not sure, all he saw was an eagle, he would find the tribe that wanted to steal their healer and make ruckus.

Muir landed near the cave, they could all hear Qins cries of agony, Harveys heart almost broke, he hurried as fast as he could, as they ran into the cave he told Muir to build a fire if it was out while he would examine Qin. Curtis had never been as glad as now to see the leopard. Harvey went into healer mode and told Curtis to lay her down. He tried to talk to Qin but she was in so much pain that she could not articulate where the pain was. Muir build a fire while Winston stood there not knowing what to do. Harvey could see her muscles twitch all over, he knew what was the cause. He started to massage on of her leg, he told Curtis to watch how he did it and massage her other foot, he yelled at Winston to come and watch him also and massage her arm. Muir was done setting the fire and told Harvey, Harvey told him to come also and massage her other arm but watch how he did it before he started. He told them not to put too much pressure and work on the twitching muscles. It did work, it still hurt like hell but it was endurable, Qin thanked them with tears in her eyes, she was still crying and moaning in pain, she let of screams when the massage hurt too much, she was too tired to talk she had to concentrate on breathing. Everyone was working too hard and no one saw an intruder sneaking into the cave.

Parker had managed to follow Muir but just barley, he could run fast but that eagle was very fast, still he missed where they had landed, he stopped and sniffed the air trying to find where they were, as he did that he could hear a female cub crying and screaming, that peaked his interest, what was a female cub doing here and what had she to do with Harvey. He followed the sound and found the cave, he could still hear her cry and scream once in a while, he tried to to follow the sound but the cave was like labyrinth, so instead he focus on finding them with his nose, since Winston had just hunted a prey he had left a little blood trail that was easy for Parker to follow, he was in his beast form, knowing that he had to be as quiet as he could, when he finally found the right cave he saw a feral, Winston, Harvey and Muir touching the female. There was good lighting in the cave so he could see her small frame but what stopped him in his tracks was her face, it was the mermaid cub, she had blue hair and she was the prettiest female he had ever seen. He could not let them catch him. He could not understand what was happening but in his mind he thought that the feral had snatched her and made Harvey and the other help him or else the feral would kill the cub, he had to hurry back to the village, no he had to go back home to the city and get his father to help him, he wanted to help that female cub and in time she could be his, only his but he had to hurry and gather as many beasts as he could to save her from that feral. He snuck out as quietly as he came in, he was only one and could not fight the feral by himself, plus he did not know if the other were with the feral or just trying to help the female, it was better to get out of there alive so he could help the poor female cub. He ran as fast as he could and headed straight to the city.

After a while Qin fell asleep, she was exhausted after all the cramps, meanwhile Harvey made medicine for her, he had a guilty conscience, he was angry at himself for leaving her, she had been in so much pain for such a long time and he had taken care of others before her, what kind of guardian was he, he wanted to punish himself. Curtis was scared to wake up Qin so he signalled them to go outside and have a little chat, when they came outside the first thing Curtis did was to punch Muir, he wanted to punch Harvey too but it might kill him, Muir took the hit like a champ, he had failed and he deserved the punch, still it was going to ache for a while. Harvey did not bother to say how sorry he was he just stood in front of Curtis, waiting for a blow, he wanted it, he thought it might make him feel a little better, he felt so guilty that it was hard to breathe, the only thing Curtis said to Harvey was that he failed her and he could never do that again or he would eat him. Harvey just nodded and gave him his blessings to eat him if he ever failed again.

Winston just stood quiet, watching Curtis scream at Muir and Harvey, he was also very upset at them and himself, if he had only picked an easier prey he would have been in the cave hours ago, he felt just as bad and felt like a failure. While Curtis was knocking Harvey and Muir down Winston stopped and smelled the air, he smelled another beast, a beast that had been here recently, he told Curtis to shut up as he concentrated on the smell, the smell lead him into the cave, an unknown beast had come into their cave while they were all there, he ran back out and told them they had been found, an intruder had been in the cave and most likely seen Qin and them, he did not know how much time they had but this was not good, they would have to leave as soon as they could but could they really leave while Qin was so frail, everyone looked at Harvey hoping for a positive answer but Harvey could not give them one, it was not wise to travel with her like this, it would put too much strain on her poor body, now they all stood there, not knowing what to do nor where to go, they just had to hope that Qin would wake up soon and hopefully be well enough to travel.
